The world-famous Orange County Airport features a life-sized bronzed sculpture of John Wayne, setting the tone for your Wild West adventure when you step off your plane and walk into California territory. When you come to this area on a business trip there's a good chance your destination is not that far from the airport. That makes transportation easier if you are not renting a car. Most hotels in the area will offer a free shuttle to and from the airport, which is essential if you don't plan on renting a vehicle to get around on your trip.
You will find more than a dozen hotels located very close to the airport, giving you a lot of selection. Those on the cheaper end will be just a bit under $100 per night with the more-luxurious hotel rooms running well over $200 a night.
There are around ten John Wayne Airport hotels that are located within walking distance to the airport, not that you would want to walk. These hotels are great if you are just coming into town for a very short business trip and want fast access back to the airport when it's time to head out again.
If you are staying longer or want to do more than just your business duties while in town, consider staying in one of the hotels located a bit further from the hotel. You will have more entertainment and dining options with these hotels and they will feature a shuttle to get you back to the airport when needed.
One concentration of hotels is found just a few minutes northwest of the airport, where you will have easy access to attractions like the world renowned South Coast Plaza mall and the O.C. Performing Arts Center. If you are concerned with price, go a bit further away from the airport to the Dyer Road area and you will find smaller hotels that are still reasonably close to the airport.
If you will be conducting business in the nearby area and staying at one of the airport hotels right next to the airport, you can catch the "i-Shuttle" from your hotel to a bus stop near where your meetings will be taking place. This shuttle operates from the closest hotels into the city of Irving from 5:30AM to 7:30PM every weekday. Confirm that it is operating online before you leave home.
Between the courtesy shuttles from the John Wayne Airport hotels and the i-Shuttle, no businessman should ever have to pay for a rental car while on business in this area!
To find the free shuttles to any of the John Wayne Airport hotels, simply go to the ground level of the airport after collecting your baggage and look for the Ground Transportation Center. You will find your shuttle sitting amongst the taxis and a wide variety of other courtesy shuttles.
In some cases you may need to contact you John Wayne Airport hotels to make sure a shuttle is coming at the time you need it. This can be done before leaving the airport building, in the Interactive Visitor's Center.
Before leaving for your trip, make sure to go online to book your hotel and plan out how you will get around the city during your stay.
