When it comes to fine dining Cunard Cruises are committed to making every one of their onboard restaurants provide a great dining experience, not just being somewhere to eat. With over a century of sea travel behind them Cunard know that the provision of good food is essential to the success of cruise holidays .
From the most opulent dining room to a sun deck coffee shop, Cunard makes sure they are providing not just superb service, but a choice to suit their passengers' moods. And should you feel like a "little something" at two in the morning, fear not, as room service will be there with your order within a few minutes, and at no extra charge.
Cunard have a policy of linking their dining areas to cabin grade, so the Britannia restaurants on all ships are the standard grade, while the Queen's Grill is the restaurant for the top grade cabins… something to bear in mind when booking cruise deals.
The Queen's Grill Restaurant on Queen Mary 2 is the crème de la crème of cruise dining. There is only one sitting in the grill, so you can dine in the knowledge that your table is yours for the evening. You will want to linger over your meal when your table is laid with Wedgwood china and Waterford crystal; such elegant tableware demands high fares however. How about caviar on buckwheat blinis, or crab thermidor on Parmesan brioche? And that's just for starters. Then move on perhaps to pan-roasted halibut with orange and lime marmalade and vanilla buerre blanc.
If that all sounds a bit much, the Britannia does offer traditional cuisine, just as beautifully cooked and well presented.
Both restaurants hark back to the golden days of cruising elegance, as does the Queen's Room, just the place for afternoon tea in true English style - jam and cream topped scones, delicate sandwiches, pots of tea, all served by white-gloved stewards.
Hankering for a real taste of a British pub? Then drop into the Golden Lion for fish and chips, cottage pie, or a good old ploughman's lunch.
The Victoria, which went into service with Cunard in 2007, has five restaurants, all of the same high standard as those found on the Queen Mary 2.
As well as the restaurants featured on QM2, the Victoria has a few extras in the way of eating places, such as the Lido – here tradition and innovation combine. A décor of black and white creates a chic atmosphere for 24-hour eating, with buffet areas providing breakfast, lunch and dinner. For evening dining the café is transformed into two bistro-style restaurants serving a changing variety of ethnic food from fondues to curries.
The wide choice of dining styles and menus on board make for great cruise holidays. Whether you are taking a short cruise, or going on a worldwide trip, with so many options you won't suffer from food boredom – dining is something to look forward to on Cunard Cruises.
