Millennium Trilogy of the late Author Stieg Larsson comes to life as its first film is expected to be released in December 2011. This trilogy is a composition of three great novels namely The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who played with Fire and The Girl who kicked the Hornets’ Nest. Said novels were published last 2005, 2006 and 2007 respectively.

The Millennium Trilogy versions have been produced by the Yellow Bird, a Swedish film production company, and together with The Danish Film company, Nordisk Film and television company, the film was released in Scandinavia last 2009. Originally, the succeeding Millennium Trilogy films are meant for TV screens only while the first film was for theatrical release. But everything was changed due to the success of the first film.

Yellow Bird together with Sony Pictures has partnered to produce the American adaptation of the Millennium Trilogy which is expected to be released in December 2011. Surely, the films will be the talk of the century as the films are to be written by Steven Zaillan, directed by David Fincher and produced by Scott Rudin. The trilogy is a story of corruption, contemporary culture, injustice, wicked practices and abuse.

The main characters of the Millennium Trilogy are Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist. Lisbeth Salander is somehow portrayed as a girl in her twenties who is intelligent but has difficulty in socializing. She has great photographic memory but has very poor social skills. Mikael Blomkvist, on the other hand, is a journalist whose passion is into exposing and investigating things that are happening around him.

The story started with the series "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo which original title in Swedish is Man som hatar kvinnor – "Men who hate women". This book is an award winning crime novel by the Swedish journalist and author, Steve Larsson. Larsson left three unpublished novels at his death on November 2004. These novels became bestseller in several European countries and also in the United States. Author Steve Larsson was really disgusted with sexual violence for he himself has witnessed the gang rape of a young girl when he was still 15. He was very sorry for what happened to the girl and never forgave his self for failing to help the girl whose name was Lisbeth. This name is adapted then in his book and became the young heroine. His book reflects the story about sexual violence against women for Lisbeth became a rape victim also.

Great buy for these great stories from the late Stieg Larsson who passed away last November 2004 but has left us with these priceless novels.
