Is a Macbook Better Than an iMac for Internet Marketing?

Why would you buy an all-in-one compact desktop like the iMac that's "chained" to one spot all the time?
True, the iMac is a cool, compact all-in-one computer. It's more powerful and cheaper than a MacBook, with a much larger screen. But you can’t carry it with you like a Macbook, because it's rather heavy and the cord won't reach very far!
On the other hand, you could be in a park or coffee shop with your MacBook, enjoying a cup of cappuccino, checking your e-mail and chatting on your iPhone -- now that's the way to go!
But do you really need a iBook?
Consider the following scenarios:
As your main computer
You'll save money on an iMac over an equivalently equipped Mac portable, but it could be a false economy if you really want the portability of a MacBook. An iMac can’t pretend to be a MacBook, but a MacBook can certainly be a nice stand-in for an iMac.
You can use a full-size keyboard with the MacBook—even a full-size external monitor, using the MacBook’s built-in Mini DisplayPort. You can also connect the same peripherals to your MacBook that you can to your iMac—your digital camera, your iPod or iPhone, your camcorder—as well as using and burning CDs and DVDs. And, unlike a desktop system, you can carry the MacBook anywhere you like.
As a space-saving computer system
Unlike desktops, you don't need to set aside a corner of the room for a MacBook. You don't need a computer desk. If space is tight in your home, apartment or dorm room, keep your MacBook on the shelf or in a drawer when not in use. Then sit up on the kitchen table or desk when you're ready to work. Forget the clutter of cables orbiting the typical desktop system.
As a second computer
If you need a second computer, why not get a MacBook and enjoy not only the luxury of multiple workstations but the portability that a laptop brings. As with any computer you can network your iMac with your MacBook using Apple's Airport. Then you can share the same Internet connection, printers and data between them, yet still have the luxury of a portable system when you need it.
As your on-the-road computer
MacBook lets you take your work on the road -- great for the student or frequent traveler. Simply sync your MacBook with your desktop Mac before you hit the road and you're off and running with all of your latest files.
Of course, the use of any laptop in direct sunlight can make it hard to see the screen, but there's no beating the freedom of being able to take your Mac with you anywhere you go. When you return from your trip, simply sync the two machines together again and you catch them both up for the day. A MacBook gives you the freedom to take your work with you.
In short, the MacBook gives you the freedom to escape the confines of your office or dorm room and do your work anywhere you like for a few hours. And, of course, if you have power at your "home base" you can plug your MacBook in and work all day.
If you go on a long distance trip, your MacBook lets you take your work with you and continue working as you travel, as most hotels and motels have WiFi connections.
When you don't need a laptop
Laptops aren't cheap. They can also be more costly to repair. They can be easily stolen. Even the battery life on the MacBook, the longest-lasting MacBook battery ever, may not always live up to the printed specifications. And getting work done on an airplane can be a real pain because you feel like people are looking over your shoulder!
But if you think those are minor quibbles, then don't hesitate to consider getting a MacBook as your primary or secondary computer.
You might get the impression that the Mac is the forgotten stepchild of the Internet marketing industry. But did you know that some of the top names in Internet Marketing use Macs?
