The challenge in overcoming procrastination is being willing to give up the adrenaline rush it provides. You really can be addicted to procrastination. The adrenaline rush that comes from waiting until the last minute to do things releases a steroid similar to opium. This is such an enjoyable feeling that people will go out of their way to recreate it by paying their bills late, being late for appointments, doing their homework five minutes before class and not finishing their duties at work on time. If you recognize yourself in this description, then you happen to be a procrastinator.

Overcoming procrastination is going to take some work on your part because you have become so accustomed to living how you have been taught is the right way to live. It is common in this country to be taught that the only thing to do is go to college so you can get a good job which will lead you to a healthy financial future. As long as people follow this plan they may succeed at making it to that good job, but if they decide to begin their own businesses they don't know what to do. They end up doing things that will keep them from having to do anything at all and this is procrastination. The only place to go from this type of activity is toward failure.

When people start their own businesses they have to be the ones to get themselves going, but this can be hard for people who have always worked in a job. There has always been someone around who was making sure that all tasks were getting done. Because they don't have anyone doing this for them in their own businesses, they can be prone to procrastinate. In order to have the success you are looking for in your home-based business you will have to work on overcoming procrastination and this begins when you face what it is you are afraid of because fear is what procrastination is about.

The fear of success can be tangible. You wouldn't think that people would be afraid of a positive thing such as success, but they can be. The flip side is also true, people can be afraid to fail, but procrastination will work to ease the minds of people who have both fears. Keeping from working on your business will lead to failure because you are neglecting it when it needs your attention; there is not way to succeed when you do this. With procrastination the fear of failure is irrelevant because if you aren't doing anything for your business then your failure will not be your fault. The failure that a procrastinator has is the type where it happens because it happens and not because you did anything to cause it. If you were to work on overcoming procrastination you would actually have to do something for your business and this is just too scary.

The fear of rejection is another fear that needs to be tossed aside by salespeople. Procrastination comes into play here because people want to avoid feeling rejected if the business opportunity is rejected, but it is never personal. Understanding that it isn't you who is being rejected will go a long way in helping you to start overcoming procrastination. There are always the same few reasons given by people who turn down a business opportunity so it is not exclusive to you that you receive these rejections. The most basic reason that people turn down your business opportunity is that they have become the procrastinators and have a hard time making a decision about it which is one reason for you to throw off your own procrastinating ways and forget about the fear of rejection.

Overcoming procrastination is going to determine if your business will succeed or fail. To learn more network marketing tips that help you succeed in business visit expert network marketer A. D. Kellon's blog.
