Candida albicans is an opportunistic fungus (or yeast form) is the cause of many undesirable symptoms ranging from fatigue and weight gain, joint pain and gas. Candida yeast is a part of the intestinal flora, a group of microorganisms that live in the mouth and intestine. When the population of Candida is becoming out of control weakens the bowel wall, penetrating through the bloodstream and spread throughout the body.
As spreads produces toxic byproducts that cause damage to tissues and organs, wreaking havoc on your immune system. The main waste product of yeast cell activity is acetaldehyde, a poisonous toxin that promotes the activity of free radicals in the body. Acetaldehyde is converted by the liver in ethanol (alcohol). Some people even say they feel a hangover or drunk, along with debilitating fatigue of high amounts of ethanol is its system. Do you have Candida? Everyone has candida, and a significant proportion of us may have candidiasis, or an overgrowth of Candida. Candida begins to cause problems when there is any change in your body allowing you to grow. This change can be anywhere from a few courses of antibiotics, a prolonged diet high in carbohydrates and sugar, or even something as common as a long period of stress at work. So if you suspect you have an overgrowth, the first place to look is your lifestyle to find what might have caused this imbalance. Antibiotics? Oral contraceptives? A diet high in sugar and carbohydrates? Alcohol and drugs? Stress? Or all the above?
The elimination of these risk factors is a crucial step in combating the problem of Candida. Many patients remain without diagnosis of candidiasis by their physicians are aware of their condition. Unfortunately, many doctors do not recognize the systemic problems that cause thrush and treat only the symptoms such as vaginal or oral candidiasis. Do not be surprised if your doctor thinks it’s all in your head and send you a recipe for depression. Some health professionals do not believe in Candida, so you need to find a doctor with an open mind, or see a naturopath, homeopath or chiropractor.
