Weight has become such a serious issue in our society today that so many individuals are making a killing telling people that their method or equipment is the best way to lose weight. There are those who promote gadgets that reduce workout time in half. Some purport diets that reduce stubborn fat without the exercise. Still others promise a magic pill to melt all the fat away.
While some claims seem too good to be true, many desperate individuals fall for these, only to find out in the end that they were being conned. The realization came only after spending a considerable amount of money for these weight loss programs. What a rip-off!
If you want to lose weight, there is only one way. It won't even cost you a single cent if you're resourceful enough. This is the best way- no frills, no gimmicks, no magic. But it also takes work. Any weight loss regimen that promises you no work is a blatant lie. No such thing exists.
The best and only way to lose weight, and to keep it off for good is through proper exercise and a healthy diet. Yes, this is not new. It has been around for many generations and has been tried and proven true. It just got lost in all the hullabaloo because of our society's obsession with instant gratification.
What is proper exercise? If you avail yourself of a gym membership, trainers will prescribe a program for you to follow. But you can just as easily do it on your own. A brisk walk or jog around the park early in the morning is the most common and effective form of exercise you can possibly do. If a pool or beach is nearby, swimming is another alternative. Calisthenics and stretching are exercises you can do right in the comfort of your very own home. If you love the outdoors, hiking or mountain climbing with friends is another option. Engaged in a sport? Then chances are, you're getting the right amount of exercise. Even grocery shopping and climbing up and down the stairs can keep your metabolism running and burn away the fat.
As for proper diet, let variety and moderation be your guides. Strive to eat at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables all throughout the day. Whole grains should also be on your menu. Go for the lean portions of pork, beef and chicken (skin is chockfull of fat). Drink lots of water. If you feel the need to eat a burger, do so, but don't do it everyday and don't go for the big servings or share one with a friend. Cakes and sweets, like alcohol, when taken in moderation are just fine.
Exercise plus diet. This the winning formula for losing weight.
