There’s nothing quite like the pleasures of travel! If there’s something everyone agrees on, it’s the fact that seeing the world can be one of the most wonderful experiences in life. It’s a great way to have fun, relax and learn a lot about other cultures.
And just like most industries, there are trends in the travel biz as well. Nowadays, holy land tours are quite popular with adventure seekers. Most of them focus on important landmarks and sites throughout Israel; others combine a visit to surrounding countries with the highlights of the Holy Land. And if you’re among the tourists who prefer to create their own itinerary, there are travel agencies that can help you chart a vacation you won’t soon forget.
So if you’re wondering where to go, why not visit Jordan? With its rich history and friendly people, you’ll have the time of your life.
An excursion to Jordan begins with arrival in Amman, where you’ll be escorted to a sumptuous hotel. If you stay in the center of town you’ll have the opportunity to shop at the open air markets and visit nearby museums.
The adventure will continue with a drive through the Jordanian desert where you’ll encounter stunning castles, forts and relics that date back to the days of the crusades.
Opt for an excursion to the northern part of the country where you’ll find the ancient town of Jerash. Make sure to have your camera handy, as you’ll witness settlements that go as far back as the Bronze Age and ruins from the Hellenistic and Byzantine periods. Jerash, also know as the "other Pompeii" showcases well-preserved remnants of the past.
Witness the beauty of 12th century Arabic architecture with a stop at the Castle of Ajlun; it’s here where the crusaders were defeated and sent away from Jordan in 1189 A.D.
Afterwards, journey to Petra, one of the most incredible places on earth. Choose to follow your guide on horseback; or take a stroll while admiring the magnificence of the city’s rose and orange colored rocks.
At the end of the trip, you’ll stop at Mount Nebo. Enjoy the vistas afforded from atop; marvel in the scenery of the Judean desert and the Jordan valley; and while you visit the site where Moses is believed to be buried, catch a glimpse of Jerusalem.
Jordan’s beauty is not a myth. It’s a reality and you ought not to miss it.
