Come 4th February 2011, the Chinese will usher in the solar New Year of the Metal Rabbit. The Chinese refers to it as Li Chun or Arrival of Spring.
In Chinese metaphysics, the solar New Year brings with it a new set of annual stars that flies into every household. These stars form the energy pattern within the eight sectors of a house and influence the residents’ luck for the year. These stars are given a series of numbers that run from 1 - 9.
Apart from these stars, the year is also governed by the energy of the zodiac that represents it and for the year 2011, it is represented by the Grand Duke Jupiter or the Metal Rabbit. The Chinese calls it the Tai Sui of the year and it governs the E2 sector of a house. Its compass direction is 82.6 – 97.5º.
Any house that faces E2 in 2011 will incur the wrath of the Tai Sui. The residents are likely to encounter setbacks and obstacles during the year especially those born in the year of the Rooster which clashes with the Zodiac (Rabbit) of the year.
One should not undertake any renovation that involves knocking down the wall, digging the ground or any noisy maintenance work in the E2 sector as it will offend the Tai Sui and brings bad luck for the year. Even if your house is not facing the Tai Sui, it is generally not a good idea to renovate the E2 sector as doing so can also bring misfortune to the residents.
The sector that is opposite the E2 is governed by the Year Breaker which is also known as the Sui Poh and its energy takes up the W2 sector (262.6 – 277.5º). It is not advisable to undertake renovation in the W2 as it will break the year’s fortune!
And there are the Three Killings which affect the west sector this year. This inauspicious energy spans mainly west (232.6º to 307.5º) and brings disaster, robbery (financial losses) and accidents. Its negative effects are activated by ground breaking and knocking on the wall. Therefore, you should not undertake any renovation in the west sector of your house.
With regards to the nine flying stars, one should be extra careful of the star 5 and star 2. The former is also known as Five Yellow and it brings illnesses, misfortune and obstacles to occupants of the east sector this year. The star 2 afflicts the south sector of the house with illness and health problems. Pregnant women, the elderly, infants and those vulnerable are advised not to occupy this sector for the year.
The other stars exert different influences on the residents in the sectors which they fly to as follows:-
The north sector is afflicted by star 3 which is associated with arguments, disputes and legal problems.
The center of a property is afflicted by star 7 which is associated with robbery, frauds and accidents
The southeast sector is governed by star 6 which bestows authority, influence and power
The southwest sector is governed by star 4 which is associated with romance, relationship and academic achievements
The west sector is governed by star 9 which brings creative ideas, happy events and joyous occasions.
The northeast sector is governed by star 1 which brings nobility, recognition and reputation.
The northwest is influenced by star 8 which is the most auspicious star as it brings wealth, career success and prosperity
