Attending a live theater performance, sporting event or concert can be a uniquely entertaining and memorable experience. Tickets to a show or game should always be purchased as early as possible to ensure good seating. Seat location impacts not only what you see and hear at an event, but how you see and hear it. Good seats are generally considered places in a venue where there is optimum visual and audio.
Theater Seats
Stage shows are usually designed for the best possible viewing from every seat in the theater. However, it is generally agreed that the top seats for a live theater performance are in the orchestra section, from rows 5 to 20. Not only can you see the entire set from this location, it is also where most directors sit when crafting the show. Theater critics and VIPs will often be seated in this section as well.
If you don’t mind looking down on a production, the first half of the mezzanine is often the second best choice for a seat. Mezzanines hang over the orchestra section, usually starting at row 12. In stadiums, the mezzanine is club (premium) seating because if offers an unobstructed view of the field.
Many people avoid sitting right next to the stage because they often have to crane their necks to see the production. Even so, there are always plenty of people who enjoy being as close to the actors and show as possible.
Stadium Seating
Good seating at football games is considered to be between the two 40 yard lines, and 15 to 25 rows up from field level. Not only does the higher height help prevent obstructions, it makes it easier overall to see the plays. Many people like sitting at the 50 yard line, either close to the field or on the second level. Sitting on the second level not only enables you to see across the field, it offers a more panoramic view of the action.
End zone seating has both advantages and disadvantages. When you are in the end zone, you probably won’t have a direct view of the plays on the other side of the field. However, when the teams come your way, you’ll be in a great place to watch the action. Every stadium also has large screens that allow you to see the game, no matter where you sit.
Concert Seating
Most people that go to concerts want to be as close as possible to the stage. However, floor seating can get rough, depending on the type of show you’re seeing. Rock band fans in particular are going to be standing, shouting and even moshing when they’re near the stage. If that’s not the concert experience you are looking for, seats in the 100 and 200 sections are your best bet.
A qualified and knowledgeable ticket broker can help you get the best tickets possible for an event. Even if you have heard that the show or game is sold out, you may still be able to find great seats through a broker, maybe even the best seats in the house.
