You must prepare yourself psychologically for you to defend yourself from a physical attack. Even the best martial arts training in the world will not be able to help you if you are not ready to use them as self-defence when confronted with a sudden aggressive assault.
This article will share with you some tips on to do when confronted with an aggressive assault.
- Always be alert and ready to respond to any form of physical assault.
The best way to stay prepared is through the constant mental rehearsal of "what if" scenarios. You must be ready to do anything reasonable to immediately stop an assault.
- Be confident
The best way to acquire such confident is through constant actual physical training in defensive tactics skills. The ultimate aim is to have confidence in yourself, your physical and mental ability to overcome an attack.
- Develop and use a "command voice" effectively
This is a form of deep, loud and confident command voice to stop an assault as soon as it's started. If you use this effectively, you could stop a potential assault without the need to resort to any physical force. This is similar to "kial" or the "martial art shout" used during martial art training. It is an effective way to deter an attack and to boost the defender's power, strength and confidence.
- Be unafraid of the attacker or situation
When dealing with an assault, you must not be afraid. Use proper tactics and proactive approach to subdue the assailant.
- Fight to Win
When you engaged in a fight, focus on defeating the attacker at all cost. This is the only way to safe your life. Follow the following self-defence rules:
5.1. React immediately and fight back; 5.2. Maintain eye contact with the assailant; 5.3. Always watch the assailant's hand. Is he holding any weapon? 5.4. Use your anger effectively; 5.5. Get trained in basic street fighting skills; 5.6. Use physical and verbal distractions effectively; 5.7. Focus on attacking vulnerable areas to subdue the attacker.
Potential physical assault should not be taken lightly, many have been injured or killed because they didn't know how to respond to an assault. Follow the above self-defence rules and you will be able to defend yourself successfully from any physical attack.
