The Simplest Gestures Can be the Best Ones!

With Santa’s rear view lights still visible in the distance, Christmas and its wonder (as well as the indulgence and overspending!) seems only a blink behind us, yet we must now turn our attention to St Valentine’s Day.

Like me, I am certain that you believe expressions of love should not just be reserved for St Valentines Day, of course love is something to nurture, celebrate and treasure our whole lives through, everyday we must be grateful, affectionate and attentive to one another. So really, why do we need to bother with St Valentine’s Day and the commercial monster that it has become? But then again… to let the day pass unmarked would also seem rather sad, a crime, an opportunity lost - and what about poor St Valentine, the Saint of love? We would be doing him a great disservice; he did after all die for his beliefs in unity and love.

So here are some suggestions, to celebrate St Valentines Day with thoughtful, loving gestures that will create great moments, giggles, romance and memories but your don't need to wait until Valentine's Day to get started on any or all of these….

A Romantic Treasure Trail

Whatever your planned Valentine’s gift or treat may be this year you can add some suspense and extra thought and fun to the idea by setting up a treasure trail. Hand your loved one a card with a first clue, the answer of this should then lead to the next teasing clue, for example, ‘I am all hot and steamy’ (this would of course be the kettle, oh we are good at this!) inside which you then place the next note. This is certain to make your Valentine’s Day a giggle and get things off to a fun and fabulous start!

A Romantic Evening under the Stars!

Nothing could be more romantic than a night under the stars with your beau, we realise that in practice, during the month of February it may be a little too chilly for this option so we have an indoor alternative… Visit your local toy store and pick up some glow in the dark stars and write a message to your sweetheart on the bedroom ceiling.

Rub a Dub-Dub!

A hot bath, some new aromatherapy oils and the prospect of a back rub sounds like a very simple treat but who does not enjoy being spoiled in such a way?! Add some romantic music, candles and sprinkle with rose petals… et voila! You could be anywhere!

A Sensory Experience!

Why not gather some of your partners favourite things and treat them to a mouth watering sensory adventure -a tasting of their favourite things be it whisky, wine, chocolates, cheese, desserts or savoury nick nacks! Find some variations that your love may not have experienced before, you can buy samples of most whiskies, chocolates and foods these days. It may involve a little planning but it is great fun to discover new aromas and tastes together. In order to ignite all the senses this Valentines Day try combining this with the Rub-A-Dub-Dub!

Recreate the Memories

Show your loved one how much you savour the memories by recreating the essence of your first experiences, your first meal together followed by the song to which you had your first dance.

There are so many ways to show the one you love just how much you appreciate them, if you are still struggling for unusual, creative ideas try surfing the internet, there are millions of websites dedicated to sharing ideas and suggestions to make your Valentine's Day a special one but please, don't forget that everyday should be Valentine's Day!
