A pillow ball is a very unique and useful design. The only problem is that it may be so unique that you believe decorating ideas are slim to nothing. Well that is not the case. There are dozens of ideas for round pillow forms.

When it comes to decorating a child’s playroom, pillow balls are the answer. The ideas are endless for the design of the pillow covering. The most obvious would be the creation of the athletic ball design. An example would be a soccer ball pillow. Use white fabric as the base fabric then sew the black hexagons on the white to create the soccer ball look. To create a different or softer soccer ball you can change up the color palette or use fleece as an alternative to the cotton fabric.

Another easy ball pattern to create would be a basketball or a baseball. If you decide on either of these, the basketball calls for the use of oranges fabric and black piping, while the baseball requires white fabric and black and red piping. Children will love to romp around with any of these three sport pillow balls.

Now if your child can’t seem to get enough of those summer days or sandy beaches, try making a beach ball pillow covering to get them through those cold winter months. The colors of fabric can be the child’s decision along with the number of colors used.

Maybe your child’s playroom or bedroom simply needs some color and seating. Large pillow balls are the perfect solution. They can be covered with any choice of fabric and the kids can lounge or sit wherever they please. The lightweight of the pillow ball makes rearranging and storing easy for children of all ages.

If you are feeling really creative, try making some pillows that resemble faces. It’s a fun way to incorporate your child’s ideas in the design. Ask them to draw a silly face then replicate that face on the pillow ball covering. Children love the idea of a funny face on a round pillow. It is sure to make them laugh and this is a great opportunity to allow a child to explore their creativity.

If faces seem to be your child’s favorite idea for the round pillow forms try taking it a step further and creating animal faces. Any face or body that is round will do; a bear, ladybug, bumblebee, turtle, etc. Add wings, ears, eyes, snouts, anything else that you wish, and suddenly the playroom and bedroom become one with the wild.

Let’s say your child is a bit older and looking for a more mature pillow covering, then you could consider making pool balls. The classic eight ball or solids and stripes make for unique decorating in a teenagers bedroom or dorm.
