Almost everyone, assuming they live in the free world, will experience a breakup at one point or another. Let's be clear, this is not a desirable outcome in any case and it is even more traumatic if you are on the losing end. In most breakups there will be one person doing the break-up while the other attempts to repair the relationship.  Before you try to recover the relationship, regardless of the breakup phase you will need to ask yourself a few simple questions.

First, were you too clingy? You should know by now that guys tend to like their space and if you seem to need them around 24/7, they will probably start to push you away or at least become more and more distant. If you became angry because of this, then there is a strong chance that it caused your breakup. This is definitely something that needs to be worked on!

Relationships are all about compromise and you will need to determine whether you were making enough compromises. This isn't to say that you should simply roll over and take whatever is thrown at you, but it is to say that you need to watch yourself.

In addition to looking at what you may have done wrong in the past, you also need to take a look at what you may be doing wrong in the future. For instance, how do you plan to get your ex back? One of the worst things you can do is try to force your way back into their life. This is a terrible idea not only because it can be an invasion of privacy, but also because you may not like the answer you get.

There is a strong chance that your ex-boyfriend is already interested in someone else and if that is the case then you will probably want to back off for at least a little while. Does this mean you should not remain in contact with your ex? Absolutely not. If they are willing to stay in contact then great! You will be able to talk to them via e-mail or by text message.

One of the most interesting and common things surrounding a breakup is the regret. If your boyfriend broke up with you, there is a strong chance that he feels he's betrayed you somehow. The more he talks to you after the breakup the worse he will feel, and it may drive him to seek you out.  Just remember that seeking him out at this point would more than likely be a bad idea.

NEVER try to ambush them. This could include breaking into their house and waiting for them, dropping in on them at work, or looking at their Facebook page every ten minutes. Not only will you lose your dignity, you will also find it extremely hard to make friends outside of your current circle. In fact, some of your own friends might end up leaving YOU, and that can be a scary thought.

On that note, make sure that you do not alienate yourself from your friends! This is a mistake that too many people will make and you want to make sure that it is not your downfall. Don't become a recluse just because you feel you've lost the love of your life. In most cases, your life is only beginning.

Think about this, there are plenty of fish in the so-called sea, and there is a strong chance that one of them will be the love of your life. Then again, you might be destined to be with your ex-boyfriend, and if that is the case then you will probably win them back at some point. This breakup will only serve to make your relationship stronger in the end, and a stronger relationship may very well last until the end.

These are just a few things to take into consideration when you want to get your ex-boyfriend back, and there are many more to think about. The most important thing is that you don't push. Many people will forget this, and many will fail. So long as you utilize the right tactics and ensure you're not being clingy, you certainly stand a decent chance of getting your ex back and strengthening the relationship. It's all a matter of being patient and understanding the nature of relationships, even ones that have been broken for a considerable amount of time.
