Machu Picchu is situated northwest of Cusco, Peru on a top

of a misty mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley. Machu

Picchu is thought to be "The Lost City of the Incas", and

was originally built for the Inca emperor Pachacuti around

1400 AD, but was then abandoned about one hundred years

later as an official Inca site. After that, it remained

undiscovered until it was rediscovered by Yale archaeologist

Hiram Bingham in 1911.

Machu Picchu measures 5 square miles and is thought to be

astrologically aligned. The Sacred District of Machu Picchu

consists of 3 main buildings; the Temple of the Sun, the

Intihuatana and the Room of the Three Windows. On the south

side of Machu Picchu is the magical Temple of the Sun, which

is aligned astronomically. It is said that during winter

solstice sunlight enters the structure through a small

window and illuminates an Inca calendar made of granite

stone. This same window provides a view of the constellation

Pleiades at night, which represented crop fertility for the

Incans.

The Principal Temple consists of three walls, which are an

artictectural wonder due to the fact that stones fit

together perfectly without any morter to hold them together.

The Temple of the Three Windows has 3 windows, 2 bays and

one main face. One of the few columns made of sacred stones

common in ancient Inca cities that still remains today is

the enigmatical Inthuatana. There is one other sacred rock

close to the Inthuatana that appears to resemble the

mountain ridge that it sits behind it. On the north side of

Machu Picchu, is the Temple of the Condor, which represented

heaven for the Incas and resembles a condor.

Machu Picchu had significant religious importance for the

Incas because of its location, and this is the principal

reason that is is thought to be sacred even today. One of

the main vortices of energy on earth can be found in Machu

Picchu. Machu Picchu is located at the base of two energy

vortices and for this reason is considered to be very

powerful. There are two rings of energy that are

concentrated and appear to work like templates for the

electrical and magnetic vortices in Machu Picchu.

An energy vortex is found in the electromagnetic field of

the earths energy and is a spot of high energy. These

vortices are linked together on the earth by ley lines. Each

earth vortex is believed by some to represent each of the

energy chakras found in the human body.

What is a Shaman? A shaman is thought to be a messenger

between the human and spiritual worlds. Shamans are healers

that treat ailments by treating the soul. Shamans are said

to have the power to heal traumas that affect the spirit,

which then leads to a restoration of the physical body. The

shaman can enter other dimensions in search for solutions

and works primarily within the spiritual world to bring

about restoration of balance and healing.

When you travel to Machu Picchu, instead of just taking the

tourist route, why not go on a sacred adventure by taking a

spiritual retreat led by a local Shaman? This allows you to

have a much deeper and more meaningful experience of Machu

Picchu. Shamans will lead you to the sacred sights, and

contribute to your healing through special meditations and

ceremonies.

When you go on a spiritual retreat in Peru and Machu Picchu

you will follow in the footsteps of the ancient Incas and

experience their sacred wisdom. You will be led by Shamans

to participate in special ceremonies that will inspire you

and transform your spirit. This is truly a vacation capable

of changing your life.

In Peru, you will be able to experience the magic of this

sacred land, and learn to discover your own divinity. This

is not only an adventure of outer exploration, but of inner

exploration as well. When you take a spiritual retreat in

Macchu Picchu your senses will be delighted and your soul

will be inspired.
