Don't let your marriage feel like it will end in divorce by going downhill. In order to save your marriage you must do something. Even though couples may still be in love, their marriage can go through some bad times. Before you get to a place that is too hard to get out of, start fixing your relationship now and put romance back into your marriage.

Years can cause many changes between a couple. One of the first things to go is romance. Things like finances or the needs of the kids can get in the way and out-weigh the needs of the parents. But the need for love and affection does not lessen. The bond may become stretched and break between the couple if these needs are not met. Plus, if one person is committed to keeping the romance alive while the other puts it on the back burner, resentment can build; and resentment can crush a marriage quite easily. Before it is to late, what are some of the ways you can put a little romance back into a marriage?

Time must be found for yourselves, even if there are children involved in the relationship. Grandma and grandpa, a neighbor or a babysitter can watch the kids for just a night so that the two of you can spend sometime together and keep the romance alive. A wonderful relationship refresher can be something as small as a chance to have a dinner out alone. You can show affection on an everyday basis to your partner without even being intimate or even at home. Your partner will love finding a love note written by you and left in the house where they could find it. Something as simple as writing "I love you!" on a piece of paper hidden in their wallet, or drawer will boost the romance between you two and make your partner feel loved. Something as simple as taking a walk together. Show your partner that the most important thing at that time is to spend time with them and put your other responsibilities like dishes, the lawn, and bills aside. A walk together has always been a great way to spend time together and focus on your partner leaving all the distractions behind.

Take into consideration always your partner's needs. Looking at your to-do list, romance may not be on the top of the list. It might be number one on your partner's list even if it isn't on yours. Be open to the suggestions of your partner. If you want to see your relationship fall in the gutter quickly, don't make time for your spouse. Put your schedule aside for your spouse even if it is just to hold onto a lingering kiss, because it will make a big difference in the busy lives we lead.

When it comes to your expectations regarding affection, sex, and romance in your marriage, be sure to be open and honest with your spouse. If the course of your life is not where you expect it to be, now is the time to start. You will only hurt your marriage if you tell yourself that "someday" you will have the time to be romantic. Sooner or later you will find out that "someday" never comes and you have wasted the time that you once had.
