There are a few key steps that you need to follow in order to have successful rebound relationships. Rebounds generally have a bad rap. This is because a relationship such as this normally starts off as a friendship with special benefits and then move on to a serious relationship. This means that when the relationship is over, a friendship is more commonly than not, lost. However, if this type of relationship is dealt with properly, there is a potential for an enjoyable time as well as a wonderful life partner.
To get started, you will need to set guidelines. Rebound relationships can get out of control quickly this is why you need to let the other person know exactly how you feel upfront. If you do not do this, both parties involved can become very hurt and in many cases, one side falls in love while the other is simply enjoying life. When you are honest from the get go, your rebound will be more successful. For instance, if you are just looking for a friend with benefits, you will need to let them know. Also, if you are simply looking for someone to hang out with and have a good time, you will need to let them know. Of if you are doing this only get back at your ex, you will definitely need to let them know. When you do this, you may lose your rebound partner, but you can most definitely find another that is ready for what you want to offer them.
Rebound relationships can be very sticky if you do not stick to the plan. A rebound is exactly that and you need to make sure that both sides are not getting too deeply involved. For instance, this is most likely not the person you want to take home to meet your parents or, if one of the people involved in the relationship become too dependent on the other and demands daily phone calls and nightly meetings.
Another issue is when you both begin talking about getting married, settling down and even children. However, also keep in mind, you may fall for the person you rebounding with and that is okay. Just make sure it is real and not superficial. Throughout rebound relationships you need to keep in mind your goals and you are number one. This means that you can still look for the one you want to spend the rest of your life with and don’t give up.
