Those who suffer from injuries due to accidents, sports, or overuse joints will most likely seek help from a physiotherapist or other professional for help to ease their pain and discomfort. Help them heal faster with longer lasting results with Pilates exercises. The benefits are many, and the scientific community has become pleasantly surprised at the results achieved for their clients.
-
Because the exercises are specific, it helps to mobilize the injured area quickly
-
Proper form is taught, and the client learns how to move the injured area without pain and discomfort
-
Circulation is improved as joints and muscles get stronger and are able to move with ease
-
Range of motion is improved and risk of further injury is reduced
-
Teaches body and mind connection; clients become aware of the injured area and are able to focus on healing and movement
-
Teaches core awareness as proper form and posture are practiced
-
Specific core isolation will increase awareness of form and techniques
-
Body intelligence increases as clients learn how everything is connected and how it all works together
-
Deep muscles connection as clients learn to be aware of their body
These are just some of the results that clients will be looking for with a proper Pilates pain relief program. They will seek professional help to aid them in creating a pain relief program that is specific to their needs and injuries. These programs are becoming extremely popular with patients because they are looking for natural, non-intrusive alternatives to traditional methods of pain relief. Medication is expensive and has negative side effects; surgery is too evasive; traditional chiropractic methods can also be evasive and painful.
Pilates pain relief exercises offer your clients an excellent alternative that will be a permanent cure for their injuries or chronic pain condition. Be sure to teach them the six clinical pilates principles: centering, conscious breathing, core alignment, control, concentration and coordination.
Centering focuses on the awareness and activation of your centre: the area between the lower ribs and pubic bone. All exercises are sourced from this centre, or 'powerhouse.' Conscious breathing teaches proper breathing techniques, to breathe in deeply as you perform each exercise. Core alignment makes sure that neutral rotation positions around the joints are maintained. Focus should be on the injured area. Control means knowing your range of motion, and staying within the mid-range. This prevents injury and is especially helpful for athletes, so they never compromise their alignment at all times. Concentration must be taught to your client as he/she focuses all of their attention on the injured area. This will improve the mind/body connection. Coordination is the result of mastering all of the above principles.
Once the injury has healed, you would be doing your clients a favour by advocating that they continue with some Pilates routines at home, for overall health. This will make sure that the injured area stays strong and vital. It will also mean that your clients live a long and healthy life for many years to come. Recommend some specific pilates exercises or perhaps they can join a gym where there are scheduled classes to attend. Pilates is a wonderful addition to a healthy lifestyle.
