Tips for single moms are always helpful, especially those that involve help on raising your children. A few good tips can help you manage your parenting relationships a little better.

Don't Cut Out Their Father

Just because you have split from your husband, that doesn't mean you have to split your children away from their father. Your children should have a stress-free relationship with their father, and a chance to spend time together without arguments or fighting. If you keep your relationship with your ex civil, he can be a great source of assistance.

You are Not Alone

You're a single mom now but that doesn't mean you have to do everything yourself. Your own parents and your ex's parents should be approached for some assistance, and don't forget to keep your friends close in your life too. Male friends can be doubly helpful to provide a male influence if the father is not around.

Set Those Rules

Don't let guilt over your ended relationship make you too lenient with your kids. Rules are still very important to built respect. Children like to take advantage of these types of relationships but you need to maintain firm and constant rules, regardless of what may or may not be permitted when they are at their father's home. This is a very important tip for a single mom.

Respect Their Space

Now that its just you and your kids, you will need to make sure there is still plenty of privacy and space for everyone. Let them have their own individuality and allow them to control some aspects of their own lives, such as how to decorate their rooms.

Don't Burden Your Children

Use friends and other family to listen to your problems, not your kids. Children shouldn't have to deal with your issues so don't talk about them too much. They are trying to cope with the new situation on their own and don't need to hear any more.

Talk About Other Relationships

When you think about dating again, take some time to explain the situation to your kids so they are not taken by surprise with a new man around.

Follow these tips for single moms, and your life is bound to improve.
