Rick Grant from Entertaining U says "Michael …" (a.k.a. Lyons) "… is a fiercely innovative and inventive world class guitarist! … His band, LYONS is R.S.P. (Rock Sensory Perception) is a backup for his showcase guitar wizardry … which harkens back to early Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton … This is a no frills, kickass rock trio … If rock music was whiskey, Lyons-is-RSP would be a liter of Jack Daniels …". And he is not kidding.

Raw, camcorder video footage on LYONS’ official website clearly reveal the versatility of this emerging rock guitarist. His fingers fly through the air with perfect synchronicity.

The video clip entitled "Tribute to Rock Guitar Heroes" is a testimony to some of LYONS’ greatest influences and a visible demonstration of his guitar-ability. LYONS plays with feel. He is lightning, intensity, purpose and fluid all bundled into one. He digs in … wails … plays in the pocket …

He has this ongoing love affair with his guitar on stage. Watch the "Just Cruisin" clip and you’ll understand what I’m talking about.

His album too, amusingly entitled "The Demo", is a display of his extraordinary abilities. Emotionally charged lyrics combined with well structured melodies and hair-raising guitar leads that lend well to those distant sounds we once called music.

Take the song "Thank God for Music" for instance … it is made up of the standard rock n‘ roll stuff … it’s vibrant … uplifting … has great guitar leads … And what about "Solar Time" … the mystical and hypnotic … it brings back memories of the Floyd-ee, Zeppelin-ee feel … Or "Going Blind" … an almost pop-rock tune … filled with a plethora of harmonies … "Melody Maker" & "You Lied"… with the typical heart breaker bluesy lyrics … and "Tom’s Concerto" to boot … a classical piece thrown in to the mix … All of it demonstrating the dynamism of the album …

So what do we know about this cat? Well, according to his bio, he taught himself to play guitar by emulating the greats. Like Hendrix, he cannot read or write music … it’s all by ear.

He started performing as the lead guitarist and lead vocalist in numerous local bands of the South Florida scene. He played regularly at a string of clubs, perfecting rock and blues covers and developing his technical guitar playing skills. He then worked on his style and showmanship.

LYONS went on to form his own band, LYONS is r.s.p. – rock sensory perception. He performed in local venues, festivals and even internationally in Spain and Holland.

Is it any wonder therefore that LYONS is r.s.p. is gaining a salient reputation as a new addition to the classic rock guitarist breed?

You, tell me! You decide.
