Bedroom Colour Scheme Ideas

The bedroom is pretty much one of the most important rooms in any household. It is where we lay our heads, spending about a third (about eight hours) of each and every day in that one room. Although we might be sleeping for most of that time, it's still the room you're in when you go to bed and get up the next morning, so its decoration and design - from the colour scheme on the walls, to the bed itself and the bedroom furniture - can play a large part in your emotions, mood and feelings over time.
Therefore, it's crucial to take time in picking a bedroom colour scheme, based on your personal preferences and tastes. However, other factors may come into play, such as the room's size. Here's a few ideas to help with deciding on the best colour scheme for your bedroom:
Choose colours for moods
Colours can affect your mood, so it is essential to pick a bedroom colour scheme based on colours you like but also depending on what fits with you personally.
For example, blue is a very tranquil and calming colour, and even though it is not usually a favourite among females, if someone wants to have a bedroom that helps them to feel relaxed and at ease then perhaps that should be contemplated as a better option.
Pinks or reds on the other hand are more fun, playful and romantic. Along with oranges and yellows, they are inviting and warm colours.
Soothing and restful colours? Go neutral: whites and creams are best for guest bedrooms, not only for this reason but because they are more likely to please a vast number of guests, simply because they are neutral.
The room's size and how to choose colours
Lighter colours might be better for small bedrooms, as light colours should help with reflecting the light and therefore providing the appearance that the room's a lot bigger than it really is. A way to push this even further is by using mirrors, which can really make a small room and small space seem much larger, particularly if you opt for multiple mirrors instead of just one big one.
Alternatively, for bigger bedrooms, darker colours should make the room seem smaller. Although this may not sound that good, it should help to close in the space and therefore give the feel of a snug, cosy and intimate bedroom.
Try out and use tester pots
Most importantly, consider using tester pots before purchasing your chosen colours in bulk, just in case you find that it is not what you wanted or it doesn't go with the room how you originally envisaged. Try different colours out and get an idea of what will be the best depending on the size of the bedroom, the space and generally just what you like best.
