To gain muscle means to consume more food and lift more weights. You need to increase your food intake to gain some fats for your body to burn during and after workouts. You should choose foods that are rich in protein and calories. Choosing these types of foods need not to be expensive. Some of the foods that are rich in protein and calories are: eggs, fish, chicken, nuts, beans, lean meats, yogurt, turkey, peanut butter, tofu, corn avocado and many more. For your work out, some of the basic things that you will need are barbell, dumbbells and a bench. The three most common weight training exercises are bench press, squat and deadlift. Do these exercises at least three times per week and try to execute it with your full strength. As you go along with your work out, you should increase the weight that you are lifting at least every one or two weeks.

In your scheduled workout days, it is advisable that you eat more before and after your exercise and eat normally on the other days making sure that you do not over eat. This will speed up the development of muscles.

One more thing that you should not forget is to have enough rest and sleep. Muscles are being recovered and restored when we are at rest and while we are sleeping. Lack of sleep and rest while doing workouts will just slow down the growth of muscles. Also, it might cause damage not only to your muscles but to the whole body too.
