It’s not something new for parents to see their children running away from certain foods and eating the ones which are quite unhealthy.

Chocolates, sweets and junk food are on the top of the list for children but not for parents. Parents know what’s good for their children and they try to make them eat but to no avail. It gets quite frustrating and then parents take up harsher ways of making their children eat which make the children even more stubborn. So, what’s the solution for all this? How can you make your children the healthier stuff instead of the unhealthy one? What can you do to make your children love their meals? These are some of the questions most parents ask each other but they don’t get any specific answers.

So, to make it easier for you, here are some golden tips that can help you in your mission:

Know Your Child’s Appetite:

Children, especially the ones under the age of 5, will only eat when they are hungry. This is where most parents make the mistake. They try to make their children eat even when they are not hungry. The result of such enforcement is that children don’t really eat and when they are hungry they will eat all the junk food out there. Don’t force your children to eat when they don’t want to.

Make a Routine:

It is important for you to create a routine for your child. If he doesn’t know when to eat what, chances are he will eat candies and other snacks on and off which will kill his appetite. Therefore, it is important to create a routine for your children.

Be Creative!

By now you know that it’s not easy to feed children. So, you need to go the extra mile and make it fun for them. What you can do is you can add your child’s favorite sauce or his favorite flavored syrup on his meals to make him eat it.

Stay Calm When Trying New Foods:

Most parents, when they are trying new foods, force their children to eat them. This is going to trigger anger and stubbornness in the child which will only result in not eating anything. The trick here is to get the child used to the new food by cooking it several times a week. At first, he will run away but gradually he will start liking it.

If you are still wondering about how to make your kid eat all the nutritious food then I suggest you read the book 'Tommy the Tomato' geared towards such issues of children.
