In many situations, we can end up apart from our significant other for a long period of time. This situation can be difficult to fathom before the separation, but even harder once you're apart. The separation can be extremely harsh as you've been used to your significant others company for quite a while, and as humans we fear change. We aren't sure what will do with ourselves in the time that we would otherwise spend with the significant other and we fear the flame dieing out in the relationship.
Upon separation you need to actively seek out ways to manage to your time apart so that you don't over stress yourself and cause unnecessary psychological harm. The first thing to do is relax. Remember it is not permanent, and thankfully you are living in time of great electronic communication so your separation will not be as difficult as it was for previous generations.
The worst thing you can do is set around and worry about yourself and your part. Find something to focus your time on. Perhaps you have a new job or have been sent on a temporary job causing this separation. In that case direct all of your energy and focus to the job. Do your job to the max which might be something you haven't done while you were in the company of your significant other. If there has been anything you have wanted to research, now is the time to do it. Use that free time to gain knowledge and become an expert in your chosen area, then publish the content on Ezinearticles.com. The internet is a free means of unlimited information, so use your time to maximize yourself, while channeling your energy away from the separation. Perhaps find a new hobby as well. If you're in a new area look for a local activity that you couldn't have done back home. For example skiing if you are now in a cold climate.
Of course you should always meet new people, and develop friendships. Being separated will make it easier to step outside of comfort zone and make friends with people you otherwise may not have met. Meet some like minded people who are also into your new hobby. If meeting people is hard for you go to meetup.com. There are thousands of groups around the world so you are sure to find like minded people where ever you are.
Most importantly keep your relationship alive. Set up a direct communication time with your significant other. Find a time everyday where you can have a Skype video chat. Tell your significant other what you've been researching, show them what you have been doing with your time, and who you have met. A good spouse would do the same as this reassures a secure feeling in both of you.
Of course for many men, and women, the lack of physical connection, or in other words sex, can have a negative impact on the relationship overall, and may make many men tempted to cheat. To avoid this it best to get a sex toy of some sorts or for men, a RealTouch so that you can still get your physical needs to be met. If possible have a Skype chat in private place where the two of you can maintain intimacy via video. While not the same it can go along way in keeping the relationship alive.
Following those tips will get you through your time apart smoother. It's important to get out there and do new things to keep your mind off of the separation. It's just as important to communicate with your partner and maintain the spark in the relationship. All in all, try to avoid focusing too much on the date you get to be together again as this can make it seem further away.
