Majorca’s nightlife scene is perhaps lesser known than Ibiza. And while lively bars and nightclubs are sure to be found here, Majorca is also home to classical music venues and theatres - perfect if you’re after a more relaxing way to spend the evening.
Pollensa and Cala d’Or focus on providing theme bars and live music entertainment in addition to Spanish-styled hang-outs. Deià and Sóller are the ideal destinations if you are seeking classical concerts and live music.
Low-key bars are found in abundance throughout Majorca and it’s here that you can enjoy nightlife the way the locals do. The bars in Majorca are usually open between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. for aperitifs, with Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays being the busiest nights.
Hotels and rental apartments are plentiful in Majorca and provide you with a great way to relax with fellow holidaymakers. Nightlife in the resorts tends to be low-key and centres on activities organised by the holiday reps. You might find your resort offers early evening entertainment for young families and late evening shows for an older audience. If you’re staying in an all-inclusive resort, you’ll find the evening entertainment is included in your package.
Majorca is packed with theatre and classical music venues. Many Majorcan towns play host to summer festivals that attract famous international acts. If you’re visiting Majorca between April and September, you should catch the Deià International Music Festival in the Son Marroig estate. Bellver Castle in Palma is the location for both the Bellver Music Festival, which takes place in July, and the Serenates d’Estiu festival, which is held in August. August is also the month of the Chopin Festival at the Cloister of the monastery at Valldemossa. The Pollença Festival meanwhile, is held over summer in the cloister of the Sant Domingo monastery.
Magalluf's Gran Casino Theatre offers Broadway shows featuring a mix of swing music and energetic dancers and acrobats. After enjoying a show, you can try your hand at American roulette and blackjack in the casino. You’ll be expected to dress up when visiting the classical music venues and theatres in Majorca. Shorts and sandals won’t cut it here.
Son Amar offers a stunning cabaret show with variety acts. Here, you can enjoy a delicious gala dinner in an old converted mansion. But if soul music takes your fancy, you might prefer to visit The Rising Sun at C’An Pastilla. The venue regularly features American soul singers.
If you don’t mind being surrounded by young families, you could visit the Stadium Bar which features live acts and karaoke on a nightly basis. Pirates Adventure offers a family-friendly, swashbuckling show to enjoy. But if you wish to avoid young children, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays are the nights for the adults-only pirate-themed shows – just be prepared to participate.
