November can often be considered a dull month; just after Halloween and before Christmas; the weather isn’t cold enough for that frosty scene but the lovely autumn leaves have fallen weeks ago and left barren trees. However, November promises lots of other opportunities, especially in the bustling northern city of Leeds.
Leeds in the North East of England is a popular destination for tourists who enjoy the friendliness of the typical Yorkshire hosts that reside in Leeds. Leeds is not as famous as cities such as London or Manchester for hosting events but in reality there are many events that bring hundreds to the city all year round and the month of November looks to be just as exciting.
Geek Up
Geek up is a monthly event that brings the technology whizzes from all over the country to Leeds to see the new movements in software, hardware and other ‘geeky’ topics. You may think that Geek Up is an event for the Bill Gates and Steve Jobs wannabes but really it is for most people who are in the technology industry. This is a popular event that is incredibly social and is a great networking opportunity for likeminded individuals. Expect plenty of beers at this event and can even be followed on Twitter.
The Love Arts Festival Leeds
Another free event that perhaps has wider appeal than Geek Up is the Love Arts Festival, this festival was opened on the 27th September by Ruby Wax and goes on until the 16 the of November providing guests with music performances, art exhibitions, film and dance an much more all in the name of raising awareness for mental health issues and getting rid of the stigma. Leeds is happy to be hosting this influential festival that is both enjoyable to all as well as being in the name of a good cause.
Music Lovers
With the Leeds O2 Academy and Leeds University hosting lots of live music you can guarantee there is something going on for the music lovers. November in Leeds promises a treat. You can also find bands playing at other venues around the city such as the Cockpit where you can see the Guillemots this November. So if you are looking to come to Leeds, check out the bands playing in Leeds in November such as Evanescence, James Blake and the Vaccines. You will agree that Leeds hosts some of the best bands and there is something for most musical tastes.
