Being a photographer is a thing of beauty – a talent. If you are one, you are able to capture moments and make them last for a lifetime.

Being a wedding photographer is a thing every person should be proud of. Why? Because if you are a wedding photographer you are able to capture those remarkable moments and reactions of those personas which are going to marry and those people who celebrated with them. Real feeling and true emotion usually happen spontaneously and if you are there when they happen ready to capture the moment your job as a wedding photographer is 90% done.

Being a good wedding photographer would truly be an effort. It would require intense skill and artistic ability as wedding photos must have this certain aura and glow in them that is not found on ordinary photos.

But then of course, if a person do want to become a pro in taking wedding photos he could be one if he will only put dedication and would love what he is doing. Just remember that photographers are made not born.

One of the few things to remember if you are a wedding photographer is to put in your mind that in your hands lie the responsibility of giving justice to those wedding moments as they happen. Hence for those who are just starting up in this business, here are some of the things you must possess for you to be a top wedding photographer.

First, make sure you get all the key group shots early. Oftentimes these group shots are tough to get right as they are best taken just after the ceremony but before the reception as everyone in them is in a hurry to be somewhere else and start the party. Always shoot the largest group first, that way if there are any extra people who will not be in any other photos you can send these people away as soon as the big shot is done so that you progressively whittle down the size of the crowd you are working with.

One very common wedding photo dilemma when it comes to group shots is that two or three on that group is likely to blink or look away when you snap the shutter. Hence, it is your job to get a great group shot photo with everyone looking at you and nowhere else.

Also remember that in weddings, the bride's approval is vital. Remember that she is your client. Thus, if she is not happy with her photos it doesn’t matter if everyone else thinks they’re great – the point is, you failed. So how do you make her happy? Take lots of photos of her, make sure you have a zillion photos of the bride, posed and unposed, and she should look as fantastic as she feels in every single shot. Of course you can’t ignore the rest of the wedding party, but trust me, the bride is the star of the show and as a wedding photographer, you need to make her feel like one.

Be prepared at all times. Make it a point to triple the battery power (fully charged and ready to go) and card capacity you think you will need. This is for you to make sure that you would always capture every wedding moment without any hassle or delay.

Memorize the the wedding photographer "classics". In almost all weddings here is the list of the usual photos the marrying couple wants.

  • bride alone

  • bride and groom together

  • bride and groom and bride’s parents

  • bride and groom and groom’s parents

  • bride and groom with both sets of parents

  • bride with maid of honor

  • bride with maid of honor and other bridesmaids

  • groom with best man

  • groom with best man and other best men

  • bride and groom and full wedding party

In addition, be consistent, make sure your photos are likeable, keep your cool under pressure, be up to date about the latest trends in the world of photography, be a great observer, have the ability ti idealize in such a way that you are able to capture people at their best pose. Armed with these, its your time to shine and be the greatest wedding photographer ever!
