If you have decided to get married but you don’t have a clue what to do next, this article is for you. It’s the dummies guide to getting married.
First up, congratulations, you are about to embark on a journey of unknown. I wish you well and hope you have a long and happy life.
To start your new life on the best possible foot you need to arrange the perfect wedding which is a lot easier if you plan properly and think about every aspect. Imagine to yourself how your perfect day will pan out and keeping thinking positively.
Your first decision should be to work out when you want the wedding to take place. You need to decide which month of the year and the actual day. Will it be on a day that all of your close friends and family will be free to attend?
Next you need to think about where you want to get married. Would you like to get married in a church or have a civil wedding? If you’re thinking a church wedding then maybe you would consider one of your local churches? Perhaps you want it to be in a town which has more of your family in close proximity. Maybe you want to marry abroad. Whatever your preference is this needs to be decided so the rest of the plans can take place.
Getting married in a church will give a more spiritual feeling to the ceremony. Also thanks to a law change more and more churches are available for marriage ceremonies. Speak to the Vicar of the church in question. They may advise you if you need a certain kind of licence in order to marry that particular church.
Once the location and date is sorted you can think about who will be bridesmaids, who will be best man, obviously these people need to be asked first. Then you can think about the number of friends and family who will be coming to the church, and then how many onto the reception. Once you have a rough figure you can look into arranging the reception. Shop around for the catering and start thinking about the internal decor. You could find a catering company that does the entire interior decor including the food. You then can think about what you want everyone to eat and whether you offer a choice to guests.
If you want a honeymoon you need to think when, straight after? A few days or weeks later? We all lead busy lives so some honeymoons have to be postponed. But a honeymoon is important; it is the first few days that a newlywed couple will spend together and they will be moments to treasure forever.
The bride of course by this stage will be thinking about the dress. The dress is probably the most important thing to her so there should be no scrimping here. She will need plenty of time to find the right dress. She will also be thinking about her hair and makeup and who is going to do it. Depending on the type of bride the whole beauty routine could be full on or not. Whether the bride is high maintenance on not she will want to look her best which will cost.
Then it’s just down to arranging flowers, choosing the cake, and transportation. Most weddings have a photographer so this will need to be looked into. There is more details to each section of this once you get into arranging it, but that is pretty much the basics. The more research you do the better prepared you will be. Use the technology of the internet to search and look at every aspect. This should be an enjoyable experience, not the stress that people tend to think of. So enjoy making all of these decisions, and arrange a truly fabulous wedding.
