Nice acoustic guitars can be classy and expensive. However it does not mean that you can't get a pretty nice acoustic guitar at a good price!
You just have to be knowledgeable about important factors when choosing between inexpensive guitars.
These are critical elements to keep in mind in your quest for good and cheap acoustic guitars.
Tuning Pegs
Tuning gears are very vital in keeping the guitar tonality. Generally a less expensive guitar means less range of majority of supplies and a smaller work put into it by the maker. This can sometimes result in substandard components of the guitar. Try to be thorough to make sure that the tuning gears work as they should, without any resistance and with smoothness. They shouldn't be straining to tighten, loosen or having cracks.
Instrument's tonality
Tonality of your instrument virtually all that's important. It is usually defined by various elements of the guitar ranging from shape fretboard, strings, and tuning pegs. By no means settle on the guitar's tonality.
Guitar's neck.
If guitar's neck is bent it is hard to fix it and influence the total tonality of the guitar. They might also give you wrist pains following extended performance. It is very important to look at the neck size. Do not settle for necks that are too big or small for your hand. It would be a lot better to settle for normal neck size.
Guitar tops
It's a wise choice to think about the top of your acoustic guitar, specially when purchasing used or new low priced guitars. Ensure that the top doesn't have any cracks or splits as they might seriously disturb the sound of your guitar. Whereas higher quality guitars have capability to sound good after some damages, that is not the case with low-cost guitars.
Design of the guitar
There are four regular guitar designs. It consists of the Jumbo, grand auditorium, grand Concert and the dreadnought design. It would be good to stick to one of these styles. They include some advantages including, ease of getting cases, guitar bags plus it also give you better expected melody than other personal uncommon shapes by personal luthiers .
Test the guitar
Insist on a set up to try out the guitar when obtaining cheap acoustic guitars. The sales men may perhaps be quick to ignore or rush you over this. Do not be intimidated by their notion of it not being necessary! Bear in mind their most important need is to close a sale. Insist, and stick to testing the guitar before buying it. This helps you in spotting, if any, some faults that you may have overlooked earlier. Testing your guitar will give you the feel of the guitar and you will be able to check out the status of the guitar. It might be that the strings are way above the fretboard which makes it tough to push chords down against the fretboard. The strings could also not be too close to the finger board, giving you unwanted noise while strumming or fingering certain strings on the guitar. Just envision the poor tonality you'd have if amplified? Don't compromise on this specially when buying cheap acoustic guitars.
I have been playing and teaching how to play guitar for over fifteen years. A lot rookies ask me "What is the top guitar for beginners?" That is why I wrote a Yamaha FG700S. This guitar is best for newbies in my opinion.
