Most folks hope to stay as healthy as they can for as long as possible. There's nothing wrong with this. For this reason, we work out as much as we can. We take more care with what we eat and include more healthy, well-balanced meals in our diet plan. All day long, we make it a point to keep water handy so we are assured of drinking enough to keep from becoming dehydrated. These are simply part of the life we must lead if we want to keep our health.
Will this be adequate when flu season is upon us and everyone is getting the sniffles? Are the people at your workplace or school coming down with colds? Are you trying to avoid them so you don't get sick? This is when knowing how to boost the power of your immune system is important. Below are some superfoods you can include in your diet to help protect your health.
Do you like almonds? They're a wonderful immune-boosting superfood that a lot of folks don't even know about. The strength in almonds is that they are loaded with magnesium. Magnesium is a very important nutrient that plays a big role in strengthening your cells. It is also key in the boosting of your immune system. Almonds are excellent because they taste excellent and are really easy to find. Nutrition stores, super markets, and roadside stands are good places to purchase almonds. My favorite way to eat almonds is to spice them up with garlic and hot sauce and then bake them in the oven until they're nice and crisp. They also make great almond cookies. I enjoy add them to my oatmeal, along with a chopped up apple, honey, and a little cinnamon. An easy way to add plain almonds to your daily routine is to eat them plain. Keep a bowl in plain sight and grab a handful from time to time.
A surprising superfood that a lot of people don't know about is the herb peppermint. You may be surprised to know that peppermint is a great source of phosphorous, magnesium, and calcium. All of those things are important to keeping your immune system healthy. Finding ways to eat peppermint each day is not hard to do. Mint tea is a favorite herbal tea for a lot of folks. Snack mints - which you can find at your super market - are great to eat and great for your breath. Snip some fresh peppermint into a tossed salad. Many meats, such as lamb, can be seasoned with mint. Or make mint jelly to serve with lamb. The versatility of peppermint is wonderful. Peppermint Essential Oil is another great way to add peppermint to flavor many dishes you prepare.
Garlic does more than protect you against vampires - just kidding. It's one of the best immune strengthening foods you can eat. Have you got a problem with the odor of fresh garlic? If you do, just think about all the immune boosting nutrients that are packed into that little, smelly clove. The optimum way to get the best benefit from the nutrients in garlic is to consume it raw. It may seem strong, but if you want the best results, just chop up a fresh clove and swallow it down. If this just isn't possible, rather than skip adding garlic to your meals, use it in the foods you cook. The huge benefits to your immune system will still be there and your food will taste great. Eat it often and don't worry about the odor. The more you eat, the stronger your immune system will become. Many foods have been identified as being helpful in keeping your immune system strong. For good reason, these foods have been labeled "superfoods." We have talked about a few of those immune mechanism superfoods in this article.
