In our world we are constantly attacked by people wanting to constrain us to do something. No matter if its buying a new super-soap or useless electronic gadget, mind control surrounds us so much that most of us learned to avoid those acts in order to live normally.
But that leads us to question: If we don't spot those marketing efforts why advertisers keep on doing them? Well, people doing commercials aren't stupid. During last 30 years there was a dramatic progress in advertising.
Marketing specialists don't want your attention, they even don't mind you avoid their advertisements. They target your unconscious mind and for this you don't have to even listen to what they have to say. Almost every commercial and billboard you see contains some kind of psychological trick to convince you to buying certain products.
The most popular way is by using so called anchors. Anchors are being created when you link some kind of usually positive emotion with product or brand. I think that it becomes obvious to you how incredible benefits this brings for advertisers.
The best example for it is coca-cola and its advertisements. There has been a recent study about coke advertisements, researchers found that there was one thing common for more than 80% of spots. Happy people. That's how cola makes a connection between brand and emotion. And this is more than probable that some time ago you've felt a dose of happiness and positivity while looking or drinking coke product.
But its not only tactic advertisers use to make you buy. The other biggie is using well known names and faces to promote products. For most of you it is quite obvious practice but usually we don't think about psychological factor standing after this method.
Almost 30% of our society are so called celebrity worshippers, people that spend their life watching life of others. As you can se it is a huge amount of people to target, so if you will choose right star you have a homerun and money starts to roll in like crazy.
Summing it all up, advertisers aren't stupid. They know what to do, to make you remember their product and buy it when the right time comes.
