Resume Tips: What are sales recruiters looking for?

While preparing for an interview, most people look for interview tips. But they neglect one of the most crucial aspects of landing a good job, the resume.
The resume is a document that has tremendous potential and should be presented in an extremely articulate manner. Your skills, achievements, awards and numbers need to be highlighted. It is the first step in selling your self to the employer.
Most people use statements like, ‘I wish to utilize my expertise and learn new skills’, ‘Looking for a position that will help me utilize my skills and grow within the organization’, ‘To get a job in an extremely successful company’, ‘to get an entry into the world of sales and to advance slowly to higher levels’ as their objective statement.
But have you ever wondered what these terms translate into in actual sales language? What will a ‘veteran sales recruiter’ think of, when he reads this?
How to go about it?
Unless you are applying for a specific position in a specific company, usage of the objective statement is passé. You are looking for a sales job. Your skills and achievements have been highlighted and that’s all that sales recruiters are looking for.
Using statements like the ones mentioned above can do you more harm than good. Support the claims in your resume with the necessary documents. Most recruiters know that your past achievements can be a mirror for the things to come in the future.
Do not write a first objective paragraph that can undermine your abilities in the eye of the recruiter.

No job fair can equal the potential of an online job portal. You need to have a resume uploaded at one or more job portals to maximize your chances of landing a great sales job soon. If you still haven’t done it, then do it now.
