Elopement Announcements – Announce Your Marriage to Everyone
Eloping can be fun and romantic for the couple getting married but it can also leave some people feeling hurt and left out. That is why elopement announcements are essential after the couple has affirmed their love. Elopement announcements not only let people know that you have gotten married, they also allow people to share a part of your day.
Many people choose not to send out custom elopement announcements but rather, just a wedding announcement. Elopement announcements are generally preferred because it holds the recipient to no gift-giving obligation. Getting gifts is one of the bonuses of having an actual wedding and although many will send a gift after receiving an elopement announcement, they do not feel obliged to do so. Elopement announcements also allow the couple to explain that it was a spontaneous elopement and that they were the only ones involved.
Elopement cards can be sent with a photo on the front. The photo should be one that was taken on the day of the elopement, preferably in the same setting. If the elopement was on a beach, the elopement card photo should be taken on the same beach. On the back of the elopement card, it can state where and when the wedding was held, who was married, and if there are going to be any celebrations.
The elopement announcement wording should clearly indicate that is was an elopement and that no one was invited. This will help thwart hurt feelings. The elopement announcement wording can be something as fun as, "While in the Bahamas, we decided to elope!" or it can be as formal as, "David Smith and Rebecca Sloan would like to announce their marriage that took place on June 31, 2007, in the Bahamas. The ceremony was small, with just the couple and the officiate." This will help the elopement announcement indicate that it was an elopement.
Often people make the elopement announcement as an invitation as well. This is because people do want a chance to celebrate with the couple, even if it isn’t the day of the wedding. The elopement announcement card is a great way to invite people to come celebrate. If a party is being held, it’s important to also get elopement announcement thank you cards. This is because many people will bring gifts and an elopement announcement thank you card will be essential. Elopement announcement thank you cards should also be sent just as a nice thank you to those who attended the party, for coming to celebrate with you.
Elopement cards and elopement announcement thank you cards should be sent out within two weeks of the elopement or the celebration. If two weeks is not enough time to send out the elopement announcements and the elopement announcement thank you cards, they should be sent out within one month of the event.
Although people may still be hurt after receiving their personalized elopement announcements, it will help them understand why the couple has chosen to elope. It will also significantly reduce the amount of hurt feelings as the personalized elopement announcements cards will include them in the couple’s plans and let them know that they have been the happy couple's thoughts.
