Just about everything we eat is acid or alkaline, mostly acidic. This play a big part in trying to solve an individual case of acid reflux since, as the name implies, it is an acid problem. Of course the body needs some meat but eating less than the daily requirement of alkaloids means that the body is not getting the calcium, etc it needs. Even a vitamin pill and a glass of milk, daily, are not enough to rebuild bone density and replenish reserves.

After reading the labels on food packages you see how little nutritional value many of them have. This points up the need for a routine of healthy food choices. Just about everything you need can be found in dark leafy and strong colored plant foods. Low fat dairy products are also a useful source of calcium.

This limited diet, of course, would make for a boring eating experience, if it were your only option. Fortunately you can make a healthy diet based on variety of foods that are tasty. The plan can include this approach but don’t forget to minimize the intake of meat, fat and sugar. Remember these are the big acid foods when you are trying to meet your RDR of fuel and nutrients.

For added help there are remedies to supplement an acid reflux diet that will give support. It is hard these days, with such an abundance of processed foods, to find all the necessary nutrients the body needs. Most people don’t get the 1,000-1,500mg of calcium, and 500mg magnesium they need daily to maintain long-term health, nor the right amounts of omega-3 and omega-6 to deal with infection.

With an acid reflux diet food is one of the changes that can be introduced in stages. If your intake of vegetables has been minimal, starting out with cooked vegetables will make it easier for the system to adapt. Later, when you add steamed and raw to the menu you will get the full nutritional value.
