That depends on what you mean by 'real'. Most of the doubt about conversational hypnosis and it's effectiveness has more to do with the poor quality training of most hypnotists, or the apathetic approach to their work that many hypnotists have. This can of course lead people to believe, after one or two failed attempts with hypnosis, that hypnosis doesn't work. The reason hypnosis fails is never because hypnosis doesn't work on the person. Everyone can be hypnotized, despite what some hypnotists may say. It simply comes down to the skill of the hypnotist concerned.

Everyday behaviors are rooted in your unconscious mind. Did you know that they're all hypnotic in nature? Have you ever driven your car on "autopilot"? Most probably you were in a hypnotic state when you turned where you were supposed to turn and found your parking place without much consideration. This everyday behavior is programmed into your subconscious mind and you were accessing this behavior without interference from your conscious mind. This is a natural hypnotic activity. When you realize this you will learn why hypnosis can become a powerful catalyst for change in your life and the lives of anyone you choose.

Hypnosis IS NOT mind control.

The swinging watch and demands that "you are getting sleepy, very sleepy" have no standing in conversational hypnosis. Typically, hypnosis involves an introduction and a procedure during which a professional tells a subject that suggestion for an imaginative experience will take place. As conversational hypnosis suggests, this can be done during the course of a normal conversation with the right skills. The subject is guided by the hypnotist to respond to alterations in behavior, thought or perception, or is encouraged to change subjective experiences. Specific details of hypnotic procedures differ depending on the goals of the practitioner and of the patient. The majority of individuals are responsive to most suggestions; however, depending on the subject's focus and openness to the experience, some responses are negligible.

What can do you if you encounter a subject that is particularly resistant? With the right training up your sleeve you don't need to be afraid of this situation. Many highly intelligent people or people who are quite skeptical by nature may be your toughest subjects but a good hypnosis course can give you the right tools to be able to lull these people into a conversational rhythm and allow you to bypass their conscious mind and begin to influence them.

I found there were 3 vital components that allowed me to experience success with even the toughest subjects. When you master them you will actually be able to induce a trance like state, bypass the conscious mind of your listeners and influence them in any way you want.
