Christmas is a much-awaited occasion all around the World … a time to rejoice, to try and relax, and to enjoy spending time with much-loved family and friends.
But, who manages to get through Christmas without sending Christmas cards? Not many of us!
You’ll be busy choosing Christmas cards of all types and varieties … or perhaps you make your own? Whatever, you’ll need cards suitable for close family and friends, relatives, peers, children. You’ll also be after greetings cards for business colleagues, staff and associates. Something suited to people you see regularly, and something for those you rarely visit. And, all of those cards will need to be inscribed with a Christmas verse apt for the individual reading it. No mean task!
Because a Christmas card’s verse is so important, and because such a wide variety are necessary, many shops nowadays sell attractive cards with no verse inside – leaving you to write a suitable message.
You can also download cards from the internet and print them out at home. Or, make your own pretty cards.
But, they’ll all need a seasonal greeting or poem inside. And, even if you’ve bought a Christmas card with a verse already inside, it’s always much appreciated if you include your own little message or verse.
After all, language has long been the best medium for expressing what you feel, think, and perceive and there are, basically, two methods of expressions of language. One is poetry and the other prose. Poetry is a more pleasurable and effective way of communication than prose. This is because poetry is never straightforward, and people like poetry because they find it interesting to look for hidden meanings.
In poetry, the style and selection of the words matter a lot. Moreover, they increase the attraction of the poetry. It’s fun to read poetry, and relatively easy to write it in the free verse form, which does not require any kind of rhyming or rhythm.
Nevertheless, you could still be at a loss for words which convey sentiments suited to the occasion and mood. If this applies to you, never fear! You can easily find free Christmas poems on the internet, resulting in Christmas cards suitable for all occasions. Your verses will burst open the cork of your feelings, crossing all barriers and helping you to reach out to people – be it in a religious or secular way.
Nowadays, with postage being so expensive – often costing more than the card itself – many people make use of modern technology to send e-cards at Christmas. In these cases, it’s even more important to choose your words wisely, otherwise your seasonal message risks coming across as cold and unfeeling.
Whatever your method of communicating your season’s greetings – be it with home-made cards, bought cards, home-printed cards, or e-cards – make your Christmas celebration extra special by carefully choosing the inscribed verses.
You don’t have to be a poet yourself. You’ll find plenty of free Christmas poems on the internet, suitable for all recipients, be they family, friends, business associates, or children.
Not only will this enlighten your heart, it will also enlighten the heart of those who receive your verses in their cards. The gesture will be a memorable one, for recipients’ hearts will be touched by your thoughtful words.
