Dealing With Rejection

It hurts. Nobody wants to be rejected, but it happens to everyone. There are some types of rejection that are easier than others. For example, getting rejected from a job you wanted is painful, but you might realize that the other candidate was better qualified for the job. Getting rejected while dating is much more personal and it hurts whether it’s being rejected by an online dating prospect, after a first date, or during a long term relationship.
Being rejected or dumped can often cause people to feel depressed. They wonder what is wrong with them. They spiral into thoughts that they are not good enough for anyone, that they will never get married, or that they are doomed to live alone with an apartment full of cats. But keep your chin up, Christian friend. There are many things to be thankful for in your life, even if you have been rejected.
God Knows Best
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
If you love God, know that He is working in ways to provide you with your best life. It may not feel like that at this very moment, but it is true. Ask your happily married friends about the relationships they had prior to their marriage. They will probably say that they are THANKFUL for their prior rejections because they are what pushed them toward the person they eventually married.
Everyone Gets Rejected
He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. (Isaiah 53:3)
Even our Lord Jesus suffered from rejection. Every human on this earth has been rejected in some way. It is part of the human experience and it does not skip over anyone. Even the most beautiful and successful people in the world have been rejected at some point. You’re not alone.
Learn The Lesson
But since you rejected me when I called and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand, since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke, I in turn will laugh at your disaster I will mock when calamity overtakes you. (Proverbs 1:24-26)
Proverbs 1:20-33 speaks of the value of wisdom. When you are rejected, you have a choice. You can learn from the experience and move on or you can let it overtake you and ruin your life. The wise choice is to look for the positive side of the situation. Forgive the one who rejected you. (It is hard, but you can do it!) Move on with your life stronger in the wisdom you have gained from the rejection.
You Are Worth It In The Eyes of God
This is how we know what love is Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. (John 3:16)
What other people think about you does not matter. Always remember that Jesus loved you so much that he died for you. How much are you worth in the eyes of God? A lot! Keep that in mind when you get down about being rejected. God loved you enough to send his only son who died for you. You are valuable, loved, and will never be rejected by God.
