Thus, here is how you could go green (and save money) in 6 easy tips.

Turn down your winter heating system by at least one degree. If you could suffer two or three points lower, then all the better. You will use less energy and still be comfy. -
Adjust your laundering machine to wash garments in cold water. State-of-the-art cleaning powders do not require hot water, and heating the water is what wastes most of the energy that the laundry machine uses. Of course, try not to use your dryer, put your washing outside on the line to dry instead.

Compact fluorescent light bulbs expend 10% of the energy that a standard lightbulb requires and these live ten times longer. Thus, switch your light bulbs. And if you want to know how to go green in a bigger way with lightings, sound out the fresh LED bulbs. They may be twice as economic as the CFL light bulbs.
-
Expend less H2O. Go Over all faucets for leakages and fix any you discover. Have briefer shower baths, do not bathe, and look at getting a new toilet cistern which will expend fewer than two gallons of H2O every flush. Ordinary cisterns use some three and a half gallons. Using less water uses less energy and saves you money!
-
Walk rather than drive for really short-range trips. Get on a bike for moderate trips, and just use the automobile if you actually have to. Petrol is high-priced and it contaminates the atmosphere. Save on your use of it and you will spare some money too, as well as aid the environment.
-
Whenever you need to drive, keep your speed down to about 55 miles per hour if possible. Your car's engine will be operating at its most economic at that speed burning the minimal measure of gasoline. Exercise driving smoothly as well. Do not accelerate quick from a standing start, and don't brake heavy. This is how to get green with your automobile, though using public transport, walking and cycling is still better.
