Ringworm is a fungus and can appear on the feet, nails, scalp and other areas of the body. It is probably best known on the feet under the phrase athlete's foot. Ringworm can spread to different sections of your body so good hygiene is a must. Avoid scratching and touching the spots, as tempting as that may be. It starts as a small red mark similar to a pimple, but grows in little circles. It is not a parasite or a worm, though that is the common association.

Treatment:

  1. Common treatments for Ringworm include over the counter anti-fungal creams or powders. There are also doctor prescribed treatments available. While undergoing treatment for Ringworm it is important to keep the skin clean and dry. Also, be sure to wash your sheets and pajamas every day while infected.

  2. All you need to do is purchase some anti-fungal cream at your local pharmacy and apply it to the infected area. Most home treatment for ringworm creams are available without prescription. Make sure you wash the infected area thoroughly and remove any flaky skin. After that just dry the infected part and apply the home treatment for ringworm ointment. You will start to see results in a couple of days. Most of these creams will remove the infection in approximately 4 weeks.

  3. The seeds of butea are effective in treating several skin problems including ringworm and eczema. A poultice of the leaves is prepared and applied on the affected regions.

  4. Depending on what part of your body is infected with ringworm will determine the length of time it takes to fully cure yourself. Scalp ringworm can take up to ten weeks to cure with a conventional treatment that is prescribed by your doctor. A scalp ringworm cure from your doctor is a shampoo and an oral anti fungal drug. The oral anti fungal is needed because the shampoo in ineffective on its own for the reason it cannot penetrate your scalp to fully cure the infection.

  5. Vinegar cure is similar to the tea tree oil one. Use apple cider vinegar and a q-tip. Apply the vinegar on the affected area a few times a day. Don't wash it away, just let it dry and apply it over the last application.

  6. Clean it with soap. Some people say that Selsun Blue, the shampoo for dandruff may be used to clean the ringworm well. It will help clean and reduce the spread of fungus.

  7. Another fascinating folk remedy is the "paper method." People who use this, burn a crumpled sheet of notebook paper in a porcelain plate, and use the ashes or residue as salve for ringworm treatment. Imagine that.

  8. Ringworm home remedies can penetrate your skin to kill the fungus that is deep rooted, and they can also be used on your nails and scalp without the need for any oral medicines. They have no side effects, and your health will not be affected either.

  9. You can see that home remedies for ringworm and natural cures for your fungal skin infections have plenty of advantages, but some people still prefer the advice of their doctor. At least you know you have a choice.
