Renewing Your Mind to Transform your World

by Jodi-Ann Walker

"...And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2 [KJV])..."

If you do notchange your mind, you cannot change your world. The main reason why most people feel restricted, constricted, and pressured to conform to the world system is that they do not have the power to change it. This is so because they have not taken the necessary steps to renew their minds. They have not done what was necessary to change their thinking pattern. Jesus said that as a man thinks so is he. Therefore, your sense of well-being and who you are as a person is directly impacted on by your thinking. When your thinking is changed then your life and your whole world begins to change.

Your world seems constricting, restrictive, and limiting because you are limited in your thinking. Theseself-imposed limitations may have come as a result of your personal background, your life experiences, being in the wrong relationships, or your upbringing. It is not easy to renew your mind. It is an ongoing process. Notice in the scripture quoted above, the word "renewing" was mentioned. This indicates the continuous process a person's mind has to undergo in order to unlearn or to untrain itself from thinking destructive, self-sabotaging thoughts.

The first step in the process is knowing your rights; that is, you need to know your rights as an individual who deserves to be loved unconditionally by God, Who powerfully demonstrated His love when He sent His Son to grant humanity salvation from its self-sabotaging and -destructive habits, which were caused by engaging in perpetual sin. You also should recognize that you have the right to reciprocate this love by accepting God's only way of salvation from sin by accepting what Jesus had done on the cross for you. When you do this, you can then mentally move on recognizing that since the Supreme Being of the universe loves and accepts you, then you can now claim that right to also love and accept yourself. When you do this, you can then recognize that you have the right to ensure that positive, fulfilling experiences take place in your life. When you love and accept yourself then you will not sabotage and destroy yourself. You will be on your way to thinking positive, self-accepting thoughts, which will propel you to your life's purpose.

Loving and accepting yourself is extremely important. That is why Jesus said that you should "love your neighbor as you love yourself." In other words, you can only love your neighbor (or your neighbor can only love you) in direct proportion to how much you love yourself. So, if you do not love yourself, DO NOT expect other people to. But if you do love yourself than the RIGHT people WILL always love you. If you love yourself, you will always know how to differentiate between whose presence is good for you and whose is not. When you do not love yourself, you hinder your subconscious mind's ability to differentiate between who is with you and who is against you. When you are against yourself, you make it easy for other people to be against you. You also make it easy for circumstances and situations to oppose you. But when you learn to love yourself, it becomes easy for you to attract the ideal people and circumstances to make your dreams a reality. You make it easy to attract the right people, the right circumstances, and the right events so that you can create the favorable conditions to awaken to and achieve your life's purpose (which is why I recommend Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose which is located on my website written below). And it all starts with having a right mindset, which recognizes its rights to obtain everything that God desires for it to have. You need to have a right mindset to attract the right things. When you attract the right things, you can attract the purpose or destiny that God intended that you rightfully have.
