If you are wanting your voice to be heard in a local bar or any other setting, karaoke maybe the answer that you have been looking for. It is solid, good and free entertainment for anyone wanting to express themselves. We do recommend practicing however if you plan to perform in front a large crowd so you can create a positive experience for both you and your listeners, nothing like having bad karaoke to make people’s stomach turn. If frequently go to a local bar and they do not have any karaoke, try simply asking, you would be surprised at how many bar owner have not added this entertainment because they have just been too busy. After all it never hurts to ask. If you have your own machine, offer to bring one in.
You can find numerous CDs that deal with karaoke in many places such as Wal-Mart or even online. If you plan to purchase any CD’s just make sure you pick a wide range of music as people who are in a bar or lounge setting are of different ages and races. It is impossible to please everyone of course, but having a great song selection will allow people to hopefully find at least one song that interests them. If you do a search online you will find hundreds of websites eager to sell you compilation CD’s with music from the 70’s, 80’ and 90’s and even the most recent and popular music. These CD’s are generally very inexpensive as well. Even going to your local mall you are sure to find some Karaoke CD’s at novelty shops.
Once you get your Karaoke machine set up, now it is time to advertise, some places even charge admission! The best way to set up a karaoke event is to have a fun contest comparable to the TV show American Idol. The will always bring in some of the better singers that can help draw a crowd the next time. After all it is no fun singing to an empty pub. Having free bar tabs, door prizes and lotteries are all too much fun when you have a vibrant crowd who is ready to sing and let their voice be heard. If the local bar of pub does not agree to have you host one, just rent out a small banquet room in a hotel and charge 2-3 dollars for contestants, you will be amazed how successful you can be when following a proven model like American Idol to draw crowds.
