The fact is that white walls can be boring and if you are renting you
probably don't have the option of changing them. So what can you do to
decorate white walls, without damaging them and risking your deposit?
Digital Canvas Printing
Digital canvas prints are an excellent way of adding impact and personalising
your interior space. There are many designs and images available or you can
print your own photographs. Creating art from your personal photos not only
looks fantastic but also enables you to display your most treasured memories
instead of having them hidden away in photo albums.
Canvases arrive stretched around a frame and ready-to-hang or order them un-
stretched and get your local framer to stretch and frame it for you. Now you
are probably thinking that's great but what about mounting it onto the wall?
Well there are many adhesive hooks on the market, which provide an easy
affordable way or mounting artwork. They hold firmly and remove cleanly with
out leaving residue or causing any surface damage. This will allow you to
mount your digital canvas print with out the fear of damaging the walls.
The most important thing to do before you start decorating/ mounting however
is to plan your space. Every room needs a focal point and it's perfectly
acceptable to design and entire room around your digital canvas print by
making it the focal point. Use it to determine the colour scheme of the room
or choose a piece that will tie in with your existing colour scheme. Add
white space between pictures to focus attention or display varying canvas
sizes to tell a story and create a dynamic look.
To complete the room, match cushions or ornaments to the digital canvas print
and your colour scheme. Using muted tones of the main colour will allow the
piece to stand out. Your white walls will now be the perfect backdrop for
your new digital canvas print.
Removable Wall Stickers
Removable wall stickers or vinyl wall decals are the latest home decor trend.
Adding the 'WOW' factor you've been looking for and taking the hard work out
of decorating.
They can be applied to any flat surface including walls, windows, ceilings,
doors, floors, mirrors, cupboards, fridge's to name a few. They are so easy
to apply you just peel and stick, then remove when you feel like a change.
They don't leave residue when removed and can be applied to any smooth flat
surface making them perfect for renters. Plus because they are matt, they
look like hand painted murals.
White walls make a great background for wall stickers / vinyl wall decals.
Choose contrasting shades for high impact or muted tones for a subtler look.
As always the golden rule with decorating is planning. Think carefully about
where you will place the decal. Do you want to make it a focal point or just
use it to as an accent? Ornamental patterns can create a custom backdrop or
trees can grow from behind a couch and budding flowers can sprout from
bookshelves.
There are literally hundreds of designs to choose from, whether your
decorating a chic living room or cosy nursery the possibilities are endless.
These fabulous decor ideas will turn your white walls from drab to fab,
instantly.
And wont cost you an arm and a leg.
