Fake Job History and Fake References

I recently wrote an article about fake diplomas and fake transcripts that are ubiquitously for sale on the Internet. Degrees from prestigious colleges like UCLA, Harvard and Stanford to name a few are readily available for a price. They’ll even through in fake transcripts for an additional charge. Well, in order to complete the artifice these companies will also setup a fake job employment history and fake personal references, for another additional fee of course. All of this is done under the premise that it is a "novelty" or is for "informational purposes only". Google Fake Job History or Fake References and see the list of companies willing to engage in subterfuge for a price.
As one website points out, as a customer you can hire their company to "re-work" your resume to include a fake job history with dates, job descriptions and names of immediate supervisors. You select a toll-free or local telephone number for these fake jobs and they’ll answer the phone in the company name and transfer the call to the fake supervisor, whereby a glowing job reference will most assuredly await background check company or employer. The same goes for personal references as well.
Hassan Nemazze was just arrested for perpetrating a $74 million fraud of Citibank and fake references were a central part of his scheme. His resume was allegedly filled with names, address, emails and telephone numbers of various financial institutions that could vouch for his financial stability and strength, but all that information was controlled by Mr. Nemazze through an elaborate web of telecommunications.
As the jobless rate climbs, so will the need for fake job histories and fake references. A simple solution to this problem is to make sure that your background check company doesn’t take the applicant’s information as gospel. Always have them cross-reference the information gleaned from the employment application and/or resume with highly reputable databases such as Hoover’s, Yahoo Finance or Edgar Online.
