In general, Christian wedding are solemnised in Churches and Christian weddings in India are not exceptions. Pre-Wedding Rituals:

Bridal Shower is one of the prime ingredients of pre-wedding rituals. It is a casual hen party organised by the bride's female friends. This ritual offers a great chance of get together. It is one of the most exciting parts of the weddings offering liberty to sing and dance for the whole night. On this occasion friends and relatives shower gifts upon the girl to be wed. On this day the bride serves a pink cake with a hidden thimble. The girl who receives the cake with thimble is supposed to marry next.

The next thing is stag party, participated by the groom and his friends. This stag party is organised by the groom on the eve of marriage. Perhaps, it is the last chance for the groom to enjoy as a bachelor. This celebration offers groom a chance to enjoy with his close friends.

The next part of the pre-wedding rituals is welcoming the bride. The groom’s family sends a vehicle to bring bride to the church. As bride arrives the best man from groom side welcomes her with a kiss and a bouquet of flowers.

Wedding Rituals:

On arrival, the bride and the groom walk slowly, accompanied by wedding procession to the priest standing for the wedding mass. After welcoming them the priest offers best wishes. The wedding mass consists of hymns and selected readings from the holy Bible. The next thing is homily emphasising the sacredness of marriage. After that blessing and the exchange of the wedding rings takes place. The ceremony is supposed to be completed after priest’s blessings to the couple. At the end, relative shower their blessings on the couple. After that the couple put their signatures on the register and walk down aisle.

Post-Wedding Rituals:

Next thing in the Christian weddings in India is Post-Wedding Rituals. Like any other Indian wedding, Indian Christian weddings are followed by reception party. On this occasion the couple is welcomed by all with a shower of confetti. The reception is best identified with dance and dinner. Christian weddings in India are full of interesting rituals.
