As in all furniture, even the most durable furniture starts to degenerate over time. Due to old age, the appearance is affected. The wicker furniture will look old, dirty and unusable. If you find yourself in a similar position, do not throw away your wicker just yet. It may be that the furniture just needs a clean and brightening up, or it may be that it needs repairing before you can start any form of redecorating it. Use some wood glue where appropriate to stick loose ends back where they should be.

For outdoor use an oil based paint withstands the elements better than latex. Wicker furniture looks great with a fresh coat of paint, and you can paint it any color you wish.

If you want to ensure that your furniture looks good for years just be careful where you put it. The first, and easiest, step to protecting your wicker outdoor furniture is with furniture covers. Most wicker furniture should not be left outdoors unprotected from the elements. It can be easily damaged by the wind, rain, and sun. The best place for wicker furniture is under the shade of a tree, covered porch, deck or patio.

One of the best ways to change up the look of your wicker furniture is to buy a new chair cushion set. Your lawn furniture will have a bright new look and you will get years of enjoyment out of it.
