The other day I received a letter in the mail, it was from a doctor promoting a "wonder pill" for weight loss. When I read the letter I was horrified at the claims that he was making. He said, "That you will lose 1 kilo in 8 hours". Apparently this "wonder pill" melts your fat and passes through your system. The doctor also claims, "That you don't have to change your lifestyle or your diet and there is no need for any exercise". Just take this "wonder pill" and all will be well. I felt angry reading his claims, he is a doctor and holding a professional position, which people take notice of what doctors say, because they are the ones with the knowledge. I have to wonder about this doctor's credibility, is he really looking out for your wellbeing or just his pocket. For someone to be on this "wonder pill" and they lose the weight and they have not changed their diet, this will cause other health problems. They will be lacking in energy and feeling sluggish. The body is starving for nutrition. You will be still in the danger zone for the common diseases like, stroke, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer. While this "wonder pill" will help you lose weight, it want solve your problem, just create more health issues.

Everyone out there is looking for an easier and faster way to lose weight. Most people know that it takes more than a pill to solve their weight problem. The other percentage listens to professionals about new products that come out and if a doctor has recommended the product, then it must be safe and ok to take. The only way to lose weight safely and effectively is changing your lifestyle and diet. This takes discipline and willpower to make better choices. The body needs proper nutrition for the body to run at optimum level. You may ask, "What is a balanced diet"? A balanced meal consists of protein, either fish, chicken being your best source of animal protein. Plant protein is soy. Lots of different coloured vegetables that is packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Then you have your whole grains like, breads, pasta and rice. The less processed foods the better nutrition which is great fuel for your body. Drink plenty of water and exercise. That is it in a nut shell. If you follow the doctor's suggestion on the "wonder pill" you will not solve your problem, you will create another one.

Let's say that a male bought his first car. He said to himself, "I am going to put the best oil in the engine, the best petrol for optimum performance and I want the best mechanic there is". I don't care how much it costs, I want the best. Every weekend he washes his car and polishes it, till it sparkles. While he is taking good care of his car, he is abusing his own body with bad choices of food and liquid and lifestyle for refueling his body. He wants good performance out of his body. How little we think of our bodies as a fantastic machine and want to put the right fuel into it for maximum performance. You can go and get spare parts for your car when they wear out, but you can't buy spare organs for your body when they are no longer working (you can but there is no shop to purchase them). How little attention we pay to what we refuel our bodies with and expect to get maximum performance. Write down the food intake for a week and find out what you are refueling your body with. You will be surprised at your list.

It surprises me when people say, "I don't like this or that type of food", and become very picky with the suggestions you come up with, to help them to make better choices. They don't even want to try new things. They straight away think they don't like it, without trying it first. When you look at a cancer patient who is on deaths door, he or she is willing to take anything, do anything and go anywhere to be able to live a little longer. Now is the time to start making a lifestyle change to refuel our amazing machines to get the best mileage. Wouldn't you like to wake up in the morning feeling great and ready for the day? My challenge to you is, try the lifestyle change and see and feel the difference. You won't want to go back to the old you.
