Among the beaches of the East Coast that are Must Visit beaches, the beaches of New England are among the best. New England is a stretch of coastal states that include Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. Within these magnificent states are among the most beautiful beaches on the Atlantic Coast. With sparkling sands and scenic locations, as well as incredible resorts, the beaches of New England are a must see. Starting south in Madison, Connecticut, and heading north to York Beach, Maine, the best stretch of beaches lay ahead of you.

Connecticut's largest beach is Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison. It offers beaches that span over two miles and over nine hundred acres of paradise. This incredible stretch of beach has a boardwalk to take a stroll on, as well as concession stands and picnic areas, with walking trails and beautiful waters to swim in. While you are there, you can visit the town of Guilford, or even Old Saybrook, or Madison Center. There you will find historical preservation as well as charming local shops and incredible seafood restaurants.

Heading north to Narragansett, Rhode Island, you will find Roger Wheeler State Beach. This beautiful beach area offers refreshing, relatively warm water, as well as beautiful sandy beaches and a pavilion with hot showers that are coin operated, concession stands, picnic tables, and even a playground. Right down the road from Roger Wheeler State Beach is the town of Galilee. Here, you will experience a true New England fishing village with ships and boats, as well as quaint shops and amazing seafood.

This close to Massachusetts warrants a visit to beautiful Cape Cod. You will be looking for Nauset Beach in Orleans, Cape Cod. This ten-mile long beach is considered among the greatest expanses of beach in the Atlantic Coast, because it is part of the Cape Cod National Seashore Park. Being a conservation area, the beaches and view here are spectacular. While the shores are mostly rocky and the undertow usually pretty rough, this is still among the best beaches for scenic views on the East Coast.

Over 1,200 acres of incredible beaches and dunes, as well as beautiful maritime forests, are what you will find when you visit Crane Beach in Ipswich, Massachusetts. Considered to be one of the best beach experiences that New England has to offer, this five and a half mile beach offers walking trails, as well as a quiet place to sunbathe and simply enjoy the beauty of nature. Residing in the forests of this region are incredible mammals and invertebrates, as well as several different types of birds, like the rare piping plover bird, not to mention several different types of rare plants. Crane Beach also has a main area with lifeguards and a concession stand.

The last stop on your tour of the best "must see" New England beaches is Short Sands Beach in York Beach, Maine. Though it is a short beach, it is full of wonderful things to do that are fun for the whole family. With beautiful views of the Maine Coast, as well as historic homes and amazing shops, there are plenty of things to keep you and your family busy on your vacation. Your kids will enjoy the playground, as well as the bowling alley and the arcade. For the summer concerts, there is a gazebo just off the beach.
