Holiday in Africa – the continent with something for everyone

As international travel is so common and accessible nowadays it’s hard to decide where in the world to visit next. In the past travelling to somewhere exotic like Africa would have been unheard of but nowadays the thrill of an exotic African safari is within reach of most of us. There's so much to see and do for all ages and it's now easier than ever to book a trip.

Believe it or not, there's more to an African safari tour than what you see in the movies or on the television. As an example on a Kenyan safari you can enjoy scenery that will take your breath away with amazing mountains in the background, clear blue lakes, savannah grasslands, mist highlands and wildlife roaming around in their natural habitat. If you are fortunate to take a Kenya holiday during the months of July or August you might even get to see the amazing annual wildebeest migration. This is the time of the year when millions of wildebeests make their way north to search for lush grass and is truly an amazing sight to behold.

Amazing Animals are just one treat in store

Also on a Kenya tour, core activities should also include trips to therapeutic springs and inside of a crater where the black-manned lion, rhino and buffalo roam freely. You might should also travel to a nearby lake to see wildlife in it’s natural habitat (you may even see animals stalking it’s prey for their next meal which would certainly be a tale to tell your friends and family back home!). Many Kenyan safari tours also include complementary night-time entertainment with music and dance so you get to sample some true African culture as opposed to mingling with tourists from your own country.

For most people going to Africa means a South Africa holiday. If you really want to be adventurous and sample the "real Africa" you would be well advised to go off the beaten track and try a Uganda holiday, Malawi holiday or even a Botswana holiday.

Combine Your Kenya Holiday and Tanzania Safari in One

Should you get the chance you should take advantage of the many "two-in-one" Tanzania and Kenya holiday options that are available to make your African safari vacation even more varied and interesting. These two places are jam-packed with endless visual treats and have so much to offer visitors. Amongst other things there are lodge safaris, animal viewing safaris and for the more adventurous even mountain-climbing safaris. In a nutshell there’s something for everyone. Even teenagers can’t help but to be captivated by the natural splendour and beauty of the great outdoors. If you’re really feeling adventurous you could even pitch a tent within certain resorts and sleep outside smelling and hearing animals in close ear-shot (safe in the knowledge that armed wardens are patrolling the area for your benefit).

How to Book Your Africa Safari

You can contact a travel agency to book a vacation or as most people do nowadays, find an online travel company that specializes in African travel and tours to give you specialized advice. As with all holidays a fair deal of planning and research must be done in terms of booking the flights, reserving hotels, getting the necessary Visas and obligatory vaccines for disease prevention.

To eliminate some of these worries try to find an all-in-one African safari tour package so you can concentrate on planning what you would like to see whilst on your African vacation. These African tour operators can help you get a car rental, flights, hotel rooms and give you a checklist of all the things you will need for an enjoyable holiday. There’s nothing worse than arriving in your holiday destination and realizing you forgot some important items!

Some African Safari Travel Tips

As with travelling to any foreign land, there are a few things you should take along for safety, pleasure, and comfort. A safari can be infinitely more enjoyable if you take the time to plan your trip effectively.

  1. Take a good quality and reliable digital camera with sufficient internal memory. There will be so many photo opportunities you will be spoilt for choice. One thing I would highly recommend is that when you see the animals/scenery/lakes at close quarters you can get very excited and camera trigger-happy! Try and take photos that are memorable and unique as opposed to ordinary snaps taken out of sheer excitement. You’ll save a lot of space on your camera and won’t end up boring the folks back home as much with your "holiday snaps!"

  2. You can never take too much mosquito repellent with you! Also, it’s highly recommended to wear long sleeves and trousers to prevent mosquito bites and to protect from severe sunburn.

  3. Take several bottles of sunscreen for those areas of your skin that will be exposed.

  4. Take your own pair of binoculars even if the Africa tour company provides them. The tour company will ask you to share the binoculars but if you take a pair of your own you’ll have an uninterrupted view of everything and be the envy of all!

  5. Take along medication to cover common ailments such as headaches, fever, pain, and diarrhoea.

  6. Take out travel insurance as a precaution. You’re most likely to be able to get this cheaper online as opposed to through the tour operator.

Ask your travel booking agents about other items you might need. They may be able to provide a handy checklist for you.

Hopefully, with the aid of this article you are able to plan your trip more effectively and can go on holiday safe in the knowledge you’ve got everything covered. With the endless amount of online resources available you can concentrate on planning all the things you would like to see whilst out in Africa. Enjoy your trip!
