Have You Worked On Your Goals For This Year?

I had an interesting experience yesterday when I settled myself down to write in detail about my goals for the year. I had five or six things which I had decided were really important to me; important enough to me to create a hypnosis recording for myself to use to ensure that I fully focused upon them with all of my mind.
I found it really easy to script suggestions and visualizations for the first four, but when it came to two of them I was very aware of a different emotional experience. The words and phrases didn't feel right; I knew what I wanted to say and to achieve but I just couldn't get my emotions to accord with those dreams. The irony is that I was creating this recording for myself for this reason; I knew that my feelings were ambivalent and I was doing my best to force my mind to focus in a particular direction.
I'm sharing this experience with you because everyone will have been in a similar "split" frame of mind at some point. Most of us just give up at this point, shrugging our shoulders and thinking that "it's just not meant to be". But I am a firm believer that you can create whatever you want to create; the challenge is to get your emotions to accord with your logical mind. Your emotions are what power your progress towards (or away from) your goals because emotions create energy.
As Neal Donald Walsh explains in his writings "Emotion is energy in motion. When you move energy, you create effect. If you move enough energy, you create matter. Matter is energy conglomerated. Moved around. Shoved together. If you manipulate energy long enough in a certain way, you get matter. Every Master understands this law. It is the alchemy of the universe. It is the secret of all life."
So what can you do when you know that your emotions are emitting a negative energy signal, working totally against (or not fully with) your logical desires? It is important to work out why your feelings are such. What is creating this ambivalence? Once you know why you can begin to deal with it. You may need to ask someone else to help you to probe the mixed thoughts at the back of your mind and thereby uncover your deeper reasoning. Sometimes another person can cut to the chase far more quickly than you could on your own.
Alternatively, you may find that your goals are just too ambitions to be believable in one step. They may seem like the task of having to eat an elephant. In this case your goals need to be broken down into bite sized chunks, so that each step towards your goal is then perceived as believable and doable. Your own emotions will tell you when you have broken your goals down sufficiently.
This is what I ended up doing yesterday. I already knew why my feelings were half hearted. I also knew that I would never achieve these goals if I approached them with this confused energy in motion; I would merely go around in circles if I proceeded in that frame of mind, and that would be a total waste of time and energy. So I broke my goals down and picked out the bits which felt good when I focused upon them. I created an overview of the long term goal - the end result - and I also created smaller steps which would all lead to that bigger goal; and each of these smaller steps have a good feeling attached to them.
I now have a hypnosis recording which guides me to really see and feel my goals with an accompanying feeling of positive energy. I can pop this hypnotic recording on every night when I go to bed and know that I am refocusing again and again upon the things which are important to me. This is how to goal set properly. Writing your goals down and focusing upon them is good, but not good enough. You have to create positive emotions which then create energy to propel you towards your goals. And you have to find a way to create that emery consistently and not just sporadically.
