The earliest flower arranging began in ancient Egypt dating as far back as 2500 B.C. Throughout history, flowers have been used to enhance surroundings, express feelings and commemorate observances and rituals. There are many different types of arrangements that can be used for different settings and occasions like corporate parties, weddings, birthdays, Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day. For every type of arrangement, focal flowers, including fillers and line flowers are a must. The arrangements depend on purpose and style of the presentation.

A basic arrangement is typically based on the positions of the ingredients or the overall shape. The container also has a large role in defining the shape and how the flowers are able to be positioned.

There are 10 different types of arrangements and all of them are based on their design shape.

1. Pyramid. This type is not very common. The base is in a triangular shape and tall.

2. Dome. This is an all-round arrangement as the name suggests and all the elements have the same distribution.

3. Crescent. The curving shape makes the crescent arrangement. It can be challenging to make because of is asymmetrical form; the entire presentation must be balanced from all angles.

4. Horizontal. This particular arrangement is low and the length is typically twice as long as the height. The length of both sides is usually the same, making it a classic horizontal arrangement.

5. Inverted T. This style is made in the shape of the letter T, but is flipped upside down.

6. L Shape. The shape of the letter L gives this type its name. It is not symmetrical, but must look balanced, and is eye-catching when created properly.

7. Fan. This particular arrangement is made into the shape of a fan. Flowers with long and strong stems must be used.

8. Triangular. These line flowers are positioned to form a triangle. The height should be more than the width of the arrangement.

9. Oval. This is the most popular layout for funerals. It takes the shape of a bush and used in most formal settings. It is a durable presentation that travels well.

10. Vertical. This is a tall arrangement that is small in width and works well as a centerpiece or a simple gift.

Flowers, plants and arrangements are popular and considered a suitable gift to give someone special. It usually reminds someone that the sender still loves and misses him or her. Arrangements are used for many various occasions for expressing inner thought; usually someone’s heartiest feelings.
